2 dog night
We had another storm here last night. As soon as I heard the first crack of thunder, I knew what I had in store. One dog, Creena, was already in bed with me. she's only 70 pounds, so she doesn't take up much room. The other, the lummox, weighs 120, so together they weigh 190 pounds, which is, happily, more than I now weigh. I had very little of the bed to myself.
Did I mention that I sleep in a double/full bed ? Ranger Bob decided that just the first half of his body on my bed would do, so he plopped his head, shoulders and stinky feet right above my head, again between me and the headboard . It was not an easy, peaceful night.
I can't figure out why he is now feeling the need to get into my bed. He has been afraid of storms since I picked him up 3 years ago, but he hasn't felt the need to sleep with me before this. Usually, he has come into my bedroom and positioned himself between the bed and the bedside table - a tight fit, but it seemed to suffice.
I believe that another thunderstorm is arriving tonight. I will let you know how this night turns out. Pray for me. LOL

Might I suggest a bigger bed (lol). . . I slept in a full size bed with Dillinger for most of his life, getting a Queen size a month before he went to the Rainbow Bridge and even then he took up most of the bed and Roxie, well she usually races me to the bed and plops in the middle of the bed and well you know how easy it is to move a 99 lbs. dog. . . I find a way to sleep, as on those nights she chooses her doggie bed, I miss here being next to me. . . looking forward to seeing how your night went

Bandit sleeps on the bed with us every night but now that its so hot he likes to sleep on the tile in bathroom where its cooler...but often its still on the bed (queen size) with most of his toys...4 bunnies plus himself and then there are Ricks pillows...grrrrrrrr seems if I get Rick a new pillow he still has to "keep" his old ones!!! So there is less and less room for me!!!
Margaret,
LOL! I know it's not funny when you're trying to sleep, but the picture you paint with your words is cartoon worthy! Maybe you could try one of those doggie anti-anxiety meds on Ranger Bob? They sell them at high-end pet stores.
My two furbabies sleep with me every night. They both like to be touching me, so we make a sandwich every night in the bed, with me as the filling! One curls up against my back and the other curls up against my stomach. Works fine until I have to turn over! LOL!
Good luck tonight!

Creena seems to be just the right size. She sleeps near me so in the winter there is extra heat in the bed. She and I sleep bum to bum with her head pointed toward the foot of the bed, which I don't mind, except for last night when I saw her hind feet resting on the pillow next to me. I thought - if only my mother could see me now - she who rarely let a dog in the house. She would wonder when I lost my mind!

I love reading all the animal stories. I am so allergic to them I can't have them in my room much less on the bed.
We have a black lab and she isn't bothering my allergies too much....just can't sit where she sits. Kippley loves me and always wants me to pet her. I do some but everytime I touch her I have to wash my hands and arms. The other lab we had made me really sick....she was a mix of lab and border collie....I am obviously very allergic to the collie part!!!
Thanks for sharing the stories!!
