Thursday Insomniac. . . What's up with you?
Margaret,
Thanks for sharing your "lummox" story, just love how they plop themselves down wherever and we are supposed to be ok with it and guess, from the sounds of things, you were (lol). . . last night Roxie got in bed and took up prime real estate, did I fight her for it, nope, just petted her and when I stopped she swatted me with her big ol paw, letting me know, hey that's not enough yet, keep petting me. . . so far she shows no fear of storms, but neither did Dillinger until later in life. . . anyway, I enjoyed reading about your dogs, oh and when I got Roxie, I told Tony, I am not going to let this dog sleep in bed with me, went out and bought two dog beds, one for the bedroom, one for the living room, well guess what. . . day 2, I picked her up and put her on my bed, she was all bones then and it was obvious she had not slept in a bed, so she did not know how to get up there, besides my bed is real high, so how did I solve the problem, I put a queen anne chair next to the bed, so she can jump on it and then the bed. . . I created the monster (lol). . .

Laureen - I used to say that my sweet Seamus (140 lb. long hair G. shepherd) had a sense of entitlement. He believed that whatever was in the house belonged to him - me, my bed, the couch, my food, etc. He always looked surprised when I asked him to get the heck out of the way so that I could actually sit on the couch. LOL God, how I loved that sweet big boy.
These big "kids" certainly touch my heart in many ways. A case in point is my lummox, Ranger Bob, who came to me after spending the first three years of his life with an abusive old man. Ranger Bob flinched whenever I moved my hand. I couldn't pet him without him flinching, yet he stayed so close to me that I had to get him to move out of the way so that I could leave my computer - he so wanted to be loved. Now, after 3 years, he doesn't flinch no matter what I'm doing, and he also has that sense of entitlement - if he didn't, I wouldn't have had him in my bed last night. LOL He is a product of his environment just like we all are.
Give sweet girl Roxie a pet and a kiss from me.

Margaret,
That is a sad story about your Ranger Bob, but like Ceasar says, dogs live in the here and now and they respond to what is going on in their lives now.
According the the rescue organization I adopted her from, Roxie was one of 3 female Rotts in a home with 6 children and neighbors had tried to posion the dogs and her owners, having 6 children, decided they could not longer afford the costs associated with the dogs and gave them up. However, it was obvious when I first met her that she had had a litter not too long before and that time was taken to train her well, her behavior further showed she has never been mistreated, as she is great with other dogs and children, so my belief is that part of the reason they owned the dogs was money by breeding them, as I was told she comes from a lienage that people pay upwards of $2000 per dog for. I can see where she was allowed in the house because when I sit at the table to eat, she does not beg, but goes under the table hoping something will fall her way, which is indicative of the kids in her former life dropping stuff for her, but that is her past, her now is a lot more spoiled and catered to other than the fact I never give her table food, well I do give her fruit.
One last funny, when I come home at night, Roxie is there wagging her stumpy butt, all excited, she lets each of my roommates know, by going to them in their rooms if they are not in the common areas of the house, hey Mom is home, then she jumps on the family room couch, because she knows once I am ready to sit, that's where I go. She used to jump in my spot, then I would make her get off and once I sat and I would pat the couch for her to come back. Well now she has learned to leave just enough room for my butt on the couch and I do mean just enough, once I sit, turn on the TV and my laptop, she will put her head on the laptop, as if to say, oh no, it's all about me right now. . . just got to love these wonderful furbabies, they are truly gifts from God. . .
You give your buddies a pat from me. If I could do anything in my life it would be dog rescue. . . but I can't support myself on that, so for now that is a dream, but maybe one day. . .

Hi Karen and my OFF family:
Karen, to change the font, use the pull down on the menus on the OFF editors. You can change the font and the size from small to large. I change mine to medium.
I didn't sleep very well last night, either ... kept waking up. This morning, I went to the bathroom soon after getting up and stopped up the toilet ... TMI, I know. Tried to unplug it and it overflowed something horribly. I had a mess in the bathroom. I ended up using paper towels, then regular towels to sop it up. So now I have towels and my bathroom rugs in the washer.
I'm going to see the new Harry Potter movie this afternoon with my cat friend (well, only friend here) Patricia ... Juliette's former mommy. Then I'll probably take her shopping ... her car's been in the shop, although she'll get it back today. She hasn't been grocery shopping in a while.
Anyway, need to get in the shower. We're clouding up here but it never seems to rain too much. Hoping the maintenance guys come and fix my ceiling, too.
Have a good day.
