Good luck on your job. Personally, I love the 3 to 11 shift, but then I'm a night owl.

It is a perfect summer day in PA - clear sky and low humidity! Finally!

I'm headed out to the gym shortly. THen working at home and have to keep my focus there for the day.

Tonight I have my writing class which is always terrific. SO looking forward to it!

Grandson North had his first trip to the ER last night - he cut his hand on a can. Sarah got him there only to find that the bleeding had finally stopped and he was sound asleep! Rest of the family seems to be doing okay, so we are grateful for that!

Morning sweet women.....missing George, he must living at the Rangers stadium all summer.
Sober 268 days and so proud of me.
Oh your house must smell delicious already Shirley, cooking sauce is one of my favorite things to do and eat....garlic, basil, onions, olive oil, tomatoes....mmmmm!! I find that I cook early in the day and then heat stuff up before we eat. Tricks to keep house cool. I have the AC on dry cycle and opened cabinets and closets, they get all heated up during the day and retain the heat.
Julia, you sound good...and that makes me happy. Enjoying your vacation is well deserved indeed. All you can do is love your mom and make her comfy and you are doing that.
Prayers for Morgan and family...powerful God has a plan and it is often so difficult to understand why events happen.
Not much planned here. Expecting more Tstorms each afternoon. Watching these storms develop is very interesting. Having a big sky here in Florida is beautiful. We are used to a smaller vista in MA with hills and dense tree lines blocking our views.
Sending cyber hugs to you all....keep cool. Monica
Long wait on phone when calling WH yesterday, but that is OK for me. Still get to rant about the things I care about....really got loud with volunteer about charging returning soldiers for extra baggage.

Morning Shirley, OFFr's,

You do sound quite upbeat this morning and I like that, as I try each morning to focus on what is good about my life and you mentioned just about all that I am grateful for, also for the health of my children and grandchildren, the wonderful people who come in and out of my life, my sobriety which makes all things possible, my roommates and last, but certainly not least, my wonderful 4-legged girl, Roxie. . .  Zumba is soooooo fun, unfortunately, I cannot afford to go right now and am considering the cds as an alternative, so I can do it at home, but I think half of the fun is doing it with others, we'll see, stay cool. . .

Lynn is sooooooo right, it is one of those rare gem of a summer days here in the northeast, temps will hit high 80s, with low humidity, I was so tempted to call out today, but unfortunately I am just too much of a team player and feel guilty which is silly because all four of us are in and things are not too busy at the moment, I'm thinking the next day like this will be a mental health holiday. . .I slept in this morning, which for me is 6ish, so no gym today, unless I can find time this evening, but I know me well enough to say probably not.  I babysat the grandkids last night and we had fun playing tickle monster, which is hide and seek and then when found the person gets tickled, the kids love it and look forward to me playing it with them, then we watched Monsters, Inc. and I got them to bed, did not get home until 10:15, so by the time I went to sleep it was 11, no way I can get up at 4:30 for the gym on the day of the week that is my crash day, so I will take a walk at lunchtime, enjoy the wonderful weather we are having. . .this evening I have dinner with a good friend of mine, we are celebrating his birthday which was last week, at one of our favorite sushi restaurants, then it will be home to get ready for tomorrow, as I will be back in the gym.

Julia, I am so happy you are having a week of relaxation and doing what you want and need to recharge yourself, especially with what you've had to deal with this summer vacation, I pray your Mom will get what she needs and you will find peace at knowing you are and have been doing all you can.

Monica, congrats on yet another sober day, isn't it wonderful?

Everyone else, I wish  you peace and strength in all that you are living through and you are in my thoughts and prayers daily.

Hugs, Laureen

Good morning Shirley and OFF-

Another drab and dreary day here in northern Maine but blessedly cooler so I won't complain.  Tornadoes in MA yesterday and the latest heat wave moved in.  Hit the same area as the one in June around Springfield, MA.

Monica send me that phone number that you call every day.  I want to call the idiots in Washington and tell them to get their act together.  This wrangling is driving me crazy.  Having volunteered for a government agency I can say there is much that could be improved to save money.  They need to get on with this!  Still waiting for Nan to let us know what airline was so horrid to her son so we can all express out discontent to them.

Julia so glad you are getting some respite on your vacation.  I loved Lake Tahoe when I was growing up.  My Dad was stationed in California several times and we went there several times.  It's very beautiful and relaxing.

Day 9 or 10 on the liquid pre-op today.  Stomach is settling down a bit.  Clearly some major stuff being shed by my body if you get my drift.  So proud of myself for going to grocery store yesterday and just getting the things on the list without buying something that is temporarily banned.  In despiration yesterday I put garlic powder in my tomato soup for a change.

Anyway time is getting short.  My cousin should arrive on Saturday.  We'll drive down to Bangor on Sunday to stay in hotel.  I'm first on the schedule on Monday morning so I don't want to get up at 3am to drive down moose alley to be at the hospital by 6 am.  Lots of little errands to run and take care of but pretty much prepared for this event and a major life change.

Have a great day everyone and enjoy!

Here is the number, 1-202-456-1111.  I have it on speed dial along with my state senators and congress members I have voted for and supported for years.
I choose to call instead of writing something like the message suggests. Some days you have to wait for a volunteer to answer but hey I am retired so time is on  my side. I always thank the volunteer or the person at my state offices....and then I speak my mind, respectfuilly, but firmly. I have a daily list, based on what is bothering me that day about our current state of affairs. Some issues remain on the list since they have not been resolved, ha ha...but I always find new things to complain or compliment on. I know I am just one person and don't have any real power, but it makes me feel involved to call. Then when it comes election day I feel even better about Monica.

Good morning Shirley & all. Home today finally.
My son made it to Grand Rapids yesterday. We got to my daughters, he showered, we had dinner, they checked out the Grand Rapids clinical trial on the computer, My daughter is a registered Nurse at Devos Childrens Hospital, & they were on the road.
At the last minute my older son took the rest of vacation time to help hime drive to Texas.

I am so proud of my kids! When one is in need they all pitch in to help. Now we have to get him home by Sunday, I am sure we will. These things usually work out.

Well today, I need to weed my garden, I have never neglected so long!

Julia, my heart goes out to you. Laureen, so much fun with the grands. Sorry I can't remember anything else. Enjoy your day whatever you are doing!!!
Nan

Oh, it turnes out it was the Doha airport that charged the fee for his luggage. I never heard of that. I hope we aren't supporting that country too!
