TGIF y'all! It's payday and Friday, and I'm off!
Hi Connie,
It's a small plain cake. It fits in an 8x8 pan. Then you serve it with warm berries. I have blueberries, raspberries and wineberries. So I'll mix them with a little Splenda and warm them until the juices run on them. Then serve over the cake. It's a recipe from my MIL. It was popular during war time because it didn't require a lot of rationed items. You can also put lemon curd on it.
Thanks for all the hugs and prayers. They coming right back at you too!

Bev, so good to see you online today. And everyone else too.
I have had a busy day and now I'm pooped. I was up at 8 a.m., got in the shower and ready for my day. Cleaning lady came about 9:30, I went out for some running (Starbucks, bank, dentist to pay a deposit on my crown), came back, paid the cleaning lady, then went back out for major shopping. Well, I wound up sitting in my doctor's office for nearly 45 minutes waiting for a couple of prescriptions to be refilled ... I had called in on Wednesday for them and no one called back, so I looked online ... nope, they hadn't been called in; they didn't leave them at the desk. So there I sat ... front-desk girl said it would be "just a few minutes." Yeah, right ... glad I got my iced coffee in from the car.
So by the time the nurse came in and I told her what I needed, she went out and then another young woman came back and said, "We'll call them into the pharmacy." Hello? That's what I asked you to do on Wednesday!
By that time, I was really hungry, tired ... so after stopping at a couple other places I decided to stop for lunch at a new place (well, for me). It was OK ... I had a cup of chicken enchilada soup and a spinach salad with apple slices and pecans and shrimp. Different, but good. Too much dressing on it, but otherwise, good. Then I did grocery shopping ... now I'm worn out from the heat. I have ice packs on my knees and back ... don't want to move.
Bev, so glad your chemo is working for you and the tumors are shrinking. That's the best news I've heard so far.
Still haven't heard about my brother's job. He hasn't posted on FB for awhile.
My former cleaning lady in Michigan posted on FB ... her hubby left her and their five girls ... he's having an affair. How horrible, righ? I feel so bad for her.
Anyway, that's been my day. I sound like I've had too much caffeine, but it's just been that one iced coffee.

Hi Eileen,
It was wonderful today. My best friend and I met for lunch and shopping. I didn't get home until 4:00 p.m. and I'm not even tired. It's great. Our temps got to 103* today. My flowers aren't looking too good. Even the ones who love the sun are wilting.
I need to get a cleaning lady. That is so sad about your MI cleaning lady.
Thank goodness for air conditioning.
Hugs,
Bev

Good morning y'all and TGIF!
Today my little grandson is coming for a visit, which means that I must clean my floors this morning! Got to vacuum, sweep and swiffer wet jet!
Then I'm starting to work on painting another bedroom. I won't fini**** but I can get it "cut in" and perhaps get one or two walls painted before I leave on Sunday. This bedroom has wallpaper stuck on one wall. Grrrrr. That woman who hung all this wallpaper should rot in a vat of paste! I'll have to strip that paper, then texture the wall, and then finally paint it. Too much for me to tackle over the next couple of days.
I expect my daughter will arrive after lunch, so we'll have the afternoon together. We plan to take Benny swimming at the pool. That will be fun! And then we might run up to the big Outlet Mall in San Marcos. I need a new belt. What am I saying? It's not like I have an old belt! LOL! I was too big to wear any kind of a belt! But now I have a new khaki walking skirt and it needs a belt. Perhaps I will find one on sale.
I'm mad at the scale today. It just keeps creeping up. Today I'm up a full pound since yesterday. I think it must be TOM. My body is just crazy these days. But I always have weight gain before TOM and I also always get sad and blue. Yesterday I was missing my DH so badly, I thought I would cry. So the emotional roller coaster rises again. I haven't been overeating and I have been exercising, so I think it's a false weight gain. Sigh. What we women go through.
I need to get moving. Time to go out and feed the deer. They are sure enjoying their alfalfa! I think I'll have to go back and buy another bale for them. I'll be very sad to say goodbye to them on Sunday.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday! Like Eileen says, it's Friday and it's payday for some. A terrific combination for sure!
Love you all!

TGIF OFFr's,
Eileen gotta love a day off and it being payday, no matter the list of things you've got to get done, it's still a day to get it all done and then when you have your next day off, maybe you can do something more enjoyable for yourself. . . hope you hear something positive on that interview you did the other day. . .
Certainly nice to read Bev's news, prayers and good wishes continue to be said and thought. . .Everyone else, nice to hear about your lives as well. Monica, I do hear you with regards to football, so sad that greed is so interwoven in our society, it will surely be the downfall of our country. I know my b/f will be miserable without his football, he lives and breathes football, even as he likes other sports, football is his fave and he is and has been a season ticket holder for the past 30 years. . .they may get it together yet.
I am ready to begin my weekend, driving up to NY tomorrow to visit with family, as my late uncle's wife is up visiting my cousin and his family, along with his sister and her family and since they are leaving on Monday to head back to NC, I need to visit tomorrow, so it will be a long trip for a couple hour visit, but I really want to see my Aunt Ella, as I have not seen her since my uncle's funeral service last summer. I will also see my cousin Donna, who is on death watch with her own mother, who is currently in hospice care, this is my Great Aunt Mary, the last of my grandfather's siblings, she is 95 and has been healthy as a horse all her life going to the gym, but unfortunately she developed dementia several years ago and in the past month has gone downhill, I grew up in their house, going there after school and on weekends when my Mom would be with her boyfriend, so my cousin and I grew up like sisters, she would go home and rat me out every day and I would get even (lol). . . anyway, family is dwindling and when I can see some of them, I do what I can. Sunday I will be spending with Tony, just relaxing at home.
Hope you all have a wonderful day, stay cool and hydrated and I will be thinking good thoughts for all, wishing peace and strength to any with life challenging situations.

Late getting on here, as I have not wanted to sit at the computer too long.....supposed to keep my foot elevated. The surgery went perfectly, very little to no pain today, and able to get around the house putting wt. on the heal of the foot and using my rollator (four wheeled walker with a seat)......so grateful to be that mobile. Sis stayed overnite and went home this morning ....we had a grand time -- always do! Cleaning angel came to my house today also, she does such a good job -- even cleans the inside of my refrigerator!!!
Better get back in my comfy chair and put the foot up.....having a little temperature today 99.8 but that's no doubt some residual from the anesthetic.....took a couple XS tylenol and that helped. Did call the Dr. and he said to keep taking the tylenol and it should clear up by tomorrow.
So happy to see Bev back posting and what wonderful news on the shrinking tumor/s. Prayer certainly does work!
Good thoughts and best wishes to all my special OFF FRIENDS,
Hugs,
Pat R.

Done! Your Ticker:
Thanks Eileen for the well wishes.
Unfortunately, this surgery was to correct four hammertoes that came due to muscle atrophy caused by the foot drop problem with this foot. My foot will never be normal - ever, thanks to a careless Orthopedic surgeon. I have learned to live with it pretty much -- nothing else I can do.
