Combatting regain. . . what's your plan?

TGIF!!!

Well how you all doing today?  Have you stuck to your plans this week?  Incorporated physical activity of some kind?  If your struggling with this maintenance of weight loss, you are not alone and after meeting with my new WLS doctor yesterday I am happy to know that while it will not be easy, I can, if I stay active and make the right choices more often than not, continue to combat the weight gain.

Basically I was told, not really news, that the further we get from surgery the harder it gets and then a meeting with the nutrionist confirmed something I knew already, but was reminded of. . .  fat cells never die and for those of us who were obese, these fat cells almost without fail will try to plump themselves back up and will fight for their wants, so it comes down to us fighting for what we want and there is no easy way out, it's about limiting carbs to high fiber, vegetables and fruit, protein and keeping the fats under control, getting in the water and EXERCISE.  3/6 small meals a day (3 of which can be snack type, yogurt, cheese and fruit), I was told that protein should be had with carbs, as the carbs burn off quickly and so hunger returns, whereby the protein keeps the hunger at bay longer.  So 4 days this week I went to the gym, burned over 500 calories per visit and now will try to use the knowledge given me yesterday to combat my fat cells desires. ..

Wishing you all a successful battle, one that can be won, one day at a time

Have a great weekend, here the weather is delightful.

Laureen, I just love, love love you and appreciate your so much!

How I am fighting to survive and take off my weight gain:
Yesterday I was swamped once again not only with work and a golf benefit scheduled for Monday, lots of work and planning goes into these fund-raisers, I also needed to go shopping after work not only for groceries but for 2 birthday presents for the grand kids.
I made time for myself and worked out in the pool after work and pushed myself.
That's right...right now exercise doesn't feel good to me due to adhesion's...no excuses, I kicked myself in the butt and exercised!

By the time I headed home after shopping my blood sugar was dropping, I could feel it. Thank goodness I had 2 glucose tabs left in my purse. Called hubby and said be sure to have some protein ready for me upon entering the house, he did and the hamburger patty was sitting on the plate ready for me! What a guy!! LOL

My arms and thighs are sore today but it's a good sore feeling. I pushed myself. This morning I put my lunch together with WW frozen chicken dinner, 3 fresh fruits to eat throughout the day and baby carrots to munch on during my work day. Right now I'm drinking my water and taking my vitamins. Guess what? I'm pushing myself again today and work out hard in the pool after work...when I really want to just go home and veg. Not gonna do it! Exercise! I have to.

Oh and while I was shopping found a great work out noodle so I can also work out in my little 4 ft. pool at home. It's mine, grand kids stay away from my toy! LOL

Good morning Sunshine

When I first started, the group had an amazing Dietitian who gave me a good foundation. She advised to always combine protein with good carbs. Meg said to think in terms of 'feedings' rather than 'meals'. Sounds like you received similar advice.

This has been a good work out week. Some days I'm more mentally tired and want to skip the gym. Time spent in the gym clears the brain fog and is worth the effort to pack my gym bag and work out.

It is a constant fight to avoid some not good for me food. Yesterday I looked at baked goods in the same drooling manner I browse a jewelery store. YowzaInstead I bought some outrageously expensive Pink Lady apples and was satisfied with the choice.

Kisses to all.
Annette

PS: an expen$ive diamond would have been MORE $atisfying.
