Manic Monday What's cooking Ladies
Sober 252 days and so proud of me. Did nothing yesterday...had a very funky pouch.
Will take it easy today also. Hubby had stomach thing too.
Lots of rain here and we really have a need for it. Still trying to figure out difference b/w forecasts that predict scattered or isolated Tstorms.
Hope all have a great Monday. Hugs, Monica
Morning Cindi and Monica, and those to follow....
I hear rumblings of thunder and we are under a severe t-storm watch. We really, really need the rain -- yards are turning brown already.
Have an appt. at 9:45 this morning to have a cyst removed from my back. Washer is running with a small load of undies -- like to do laundry early so it doesn't heat up the garage later....unfortunately my w/d are in the garage.....long story! Other than that I'm not working today -- schedule is Tues-Wed-Thurs. this week, since I have several pre-op appts to get out of the way.
Made a delicious rhubarb/blueberry crisp yesterday -- using all splenda and took some out to my son. Also tried a batch of vanilla yogurt protein ice cream that turned out great!
Time for a bite of breakfast -- yogurt and kashi go-lean.
Have a great Monday,
Pat R.

Done! Your Ticker:
I was up early today because I have a handyman coming to replace the last two windows in my larger cabin. After almost ten years I have replaced all the single pane windows with double thermopane windows. I shut everything down for the winter but with single panes you get a lot of condensation and water marks on the trim. So the last two windows go today. Then I only have to worry about repairing the screen panels on the front porch from the squirrel damage.
Got news yesterday that a very dear family friend has entered hospice. Not a total surprise as over a year ago he informed me that he was going to refuse dialysis treatment for his kidney failure. Frank has been my substitute father since my Dad passed away 16 years ago. I have many happy memories and hope that he won't suffer from all of this.
Off to town today for PT on my wrist. It seems to be working. I am having a lot less pain. Hopefully it will be resolved enough by the time I go for my surgery.
Looks like we're going to have a nice day here in Maine. There was some thunder overnight with rain. Sun is out now and they're predicting highs in the 80's.
Had a snowshoe hare in the yard last night eating the clover. My cat Sylvester wanted to attack him from the porch. Silly cat has no common sense! I lost a cat this past winter and I think he's lonely. Debating whether to get another one. It's easier traveling with only one cat something I have to considered as I will be spending my winter in Texas again this year. We'll see how it goes. He's such an affectionate cat probably the most affectionate cat I've ever had. Perhaps he's channeling a dog. He's also very curious.
Well I hope everyone has a great day and is able to stay cool with the heat wave that is facing the country!
Cindi
I wanted to sleep in, but I have a dentist appt. this morning, so I needed to be up at 8 so I could take my antibiotics (I have to take this because of my knee replacement). But I got up just before 6 a.m. with night sweats (or maybe early-morning sweats) ... went to the bathroom, got an ice pack, tried to go back to sleep ... wasn't working, so I just got up and got my protein shake.
My carpet is still wet from the ceiling dripping Saturday night ... hasn't completely dried out yet. I wonder how long it was dripping.
Yes, I have two days off in a row .... yippeee! But no baseball (well, there is the All-Star game tomorrow night and the home run derby tonight). Might have to watch one of these DVDs that I have.
I might see if there's a movie out there I want to see ... we have a cheap theater at the mall ... $2.75 movies. Something to do to keep cool. Not as nice as the other theater, but it might be worth it to get out of the house for awhile.
Cindi, I've thought of getting Juliette a playmate, but right now is not a good time for me. I've always had more than one cat; my first experience, I started with two litter mates, Kittle and Cinnamon. Now, they were channeling dogs. Kittle played fetch with me. I think cats are as affectionate as we make them.
Anyway, that's all from me. Have a good one.
Another hot sunny day here. High of 100+ F. Again. Doesn't matter. I HAVE to get out there and mow today. I'm going to get that job finished no matter what. I'm tired of it hanging over my head.
This morning I get to finish up the last of my pickles. This is the fun part. And then I'm through canning for awhile.
My little grandson is doing better today. The chicken pox are fading without turning into blisters and oozing. I'm so thankful! They didn't have the chicken pox vaccine when my kids were babies, so I had no experience with it. Don't know if my daughter is going to take him back to the doctor today or not. I think she needs to at least call them and tell them they should have warned her about this possible reaction! She had no idea it might happen, and neither did I.
Cindi--whereabouts in Texas do you come in the winter? Maybe we can meet up for a visit.
Don't have much more news today. Hoping for a quiet week while I get ready to travel again on Friday.
Love you all!
I didn't sleep well either. I slept a lot yesterday- so my body rejected sleep last night. I have a lot on my mind.
My Mom has been in the hospital for 4 days. It started out as a transition to nursing care but it has turned into a series of tests. They found something in her abdomen and were doing more tests last night. Today I find out what they found I guess. I don't feel ready for a bad diagnosis- everything seemed bad enough already. I need to call the doctor at 8:00- in about 30 minutes.
Yesterday I drove all the way to her house because I had left my phone charger. Then somehow I got home without it. The other day I went to the grocery store and somehow dropped my FULL wallet in the parking lot. It was full of money, credit cards (mine AND Mom's), prescription scrips, etc. After an hour of shopping my total came to $77.77. I had no wallet to pay. I found my checkbook and the checker looked at my name and said "This is your lucky day! Someone turned in your wallet and it still has everything in it." Oh man... that person was an angel. I'm afraid that mess would have done me in.
I watched the Stacy Dugard story last night. Her imprisonment occurred in my hometown. That poor little thing. She has come through that ordeal with amazing resilience, but I'm sure she (and her Mom) will suffer the consequences forever. Law enforcement really screwed up on that mess. The Laci Peterson mess occurred in the next town from me too. That one was quite a story to watch also. I think that the news can wreak havoc on our own psychological health. I remember that when I was having a bout with deep depression my therapist said "NO NEWS!" It was good advice.
I hope you are all plugging along with a good day at hand....
Julia

Monday is laundry day. Hoping to take the girls to the pool later.

I will try to check back in later. Prayers so those in need...a few special ones as well.
