Saturday's here! Where are you?
Hi Jeannie,
Wow, you've really had some adventures and your trip has just begun!
Just wanted to tell you that my husband also had prostate cancer and I understand what you're going through. My DH had a prostatectomy 2 years ago, and no, things haven't been the same since. It takes a lot of love and patience to help them through the process. So much of a man's self-esteem is wrapped up in his manhood. They seem to think if they can't "be a real man", then they have no value at all to a woman. Not true! But we have to help them find their way.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I think you are handling things exactly right with your DH. I remind mine all the time of what a good provider he is, how much we all depend on him, and all the fun times we have to look forward to. Do I miss our love life? You bet! I had to go through my own little period of mourning for that loss. But would I rather have a lover or my husband by my side? No contest. I think most of us feel the same way, but we have to make them believe it, and that can be a challenge.
Take care and enjoy your time in Baton Rogue! It's a fun city.
