Connie,

Sounds like your family is suffering from a bad case of "mama-do"!  You know  "Mama, do this," and "Mama, do that"!  At least that's what we call it around here.

If you don't get some time to yourself each week, you'll burn out or wear out or conk out or something!  They will all just have to understand.  After all, they are all getting THEIR "me" time, aren't they?

Stick to you guns, girl!  You're not whining.  You're just standing up for yourself, which sometimes, even "mamas" have to do!

Thanks Vickie...yes, I am getting very run down, close to burnout...now I am not sleeping either...not good!

It is definitely effecting my depression.

I love being here but some boundaries need to be made...or a least the ones that were set need to be followed.

I will make it!!

Hugs and love.....connie d

Hello Eileen and everyone,

It's a very quiet day here. Beautiful sunshine. Need to straighten the house. I don't understand why there is a collection of things not in their proper place on the weekend. You would think 2 women could pick up after themselves.

I've got appointments on Monday and Tuesday. Both in the middle of the day. It too easy to let everything else go. I don't want to start a project and then leave the house. I have clothes all over my bedroom. I kept a large amount of summer clothes in Indiana where I usually go in May and stay until September. I ask my friend to ship them to me. Now I must try them all on to see which ones are too big.

Can't think of anything else going on around here. Sending up prayers for relieve of the pain and correction for the cause of the pain in the name of Jesus.
Everyone have a good day.    Mag

Post Script:

Well, as is so often the case when I get going on the produce, I never want to see another peach again!  Whew!  It'll be a few days before they look appetizing to me again.

I made 4 quarts of canned peach halves in the agave syrup.  They look like drunken peaches because the syrup is amber, but they're not.  Then I froze 2 more quarts of sliced peaches in the remainder of the syrup.  I also made five cups of peach jam.  I used a combination of white grape juice and some agave nectar to sweeten those, although I may not have gotten them sweet enough.  I didn't know how strong the agave flavor would be and I didn't want to overpower the peach flavor.  They might be a little tart.

Haven't tasted any of it yet.  I did make a litte jar of the canned peaches to stick in the frig to try in a couple of days.  I've just got to know how they taste!

I had a really interesting breakfast cereal this morning made with quinoa (a high protein grain) and sweetened with agave nectar on it.  I'll just share it with you:

1/4 c. quinoa, rinsed
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. milk
2 TB dried cranberries
1 TB chopped walnuts
Dash of cinnamon
1-2 tsp of agave nectar
1/4 c. milk

Cook quinoa with water and milk in small saucepan.  Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and let cook about 15 minutes.  Remove from heat and add cranberries, walnuts and cinnamon to the cereal.  Cover and let stand 5 minutes.  To serve, add agave nectar and extra milk, stir well.

This is supposed to be 1 serving, but I could only eat half of it.  I put the other half up for tomorrow.

I'm done for the day!  Headed to the hot tub with my Nook!

So Vickie how did the quinona taste?  I may have to pick some up for future eating.  One more week of solid food and then liquids so no big rush.

It was good!  Had a very mild, nutty flavor.  I liked it.

I have heard about quinoa, never tried it. A friend of mine in Lubbock used to use spelt flour a lot. (spelt pretzels, for example).
I can relate to the too many of anything. Many, many years ago, when my friend Roxane and I used to have Christmas cookie baking parties (we'd bake and drink wine/beer and have pizza), she decided on all these elaborate cookies ... I always picked the easiest ones (the bar cookies). Anyway, she had found a sugar cookie recipe that you could make like a peanut butter cookie, press down with a fork, then sprinkle colored sugars on it. She decided we should double the recipe ... that meant 12 dozen cookies (144 cookies). And she had another recipe for cookies that you rolled out into a circle for a wreath, then topped on the top with maraschino cherries cut out for the bow. And she doubled that recipe, too. (10 dozen total). By the end of the night, she was whining (and drinking more wine), "I never want to see another sugar cookie."

Well, it turned out that was my last Christmas in the Chicago area. I moved to Montana the following March, so that was our last annual cookie bake. That Christmas, I got a card from Rox, and it was a little bulky. Inside were two sugar cookies, one with red sugars and one with green sugars. I couldn't believe they were intact.

Rox kept the tradition alive. Don't know if she still makes them with her little girl now, but everytime I see sugar cookies, I think of our cookie bake.

Good for you! Everyday should be a little better than the last. Just remember to sip, and walk.
