Thursday roll call
So far, I've gone to an aquatics class, a Zumba class and a tethered aquatics class at the YMCA. Who knew that I would start to enjoy exercising this much? Certainly not me.
Tethered aquatics is a class in the pool where each participant is tethered at the back by a bungee cord to a long row of plastic tubing that goes from one end of the pool to the other. The tethering helps with resistance and also aids in keeping the participants in one spot so we're not moving all over the pool and running into each other. This class really works on core exercises, which I badly need. Interval training is part of the class.
I thought that I was going to a 'regular' aquatics class and got to the pool and wondered what the hell I'd wandered into. It ended up being a really good workout and I will go back. Unfortunately, my back went out again in the pool. I'm probably the only person in the aquatics classes who goes to Zumba and workouts with no problem but goes to the aquatics class and puts out her back. The joys of aging.
Well, I'm on my way back to bed, perchance to dream. Today will consist of helping a friend spruce up a garden at the cemetery where her husband is buried. And then I think that I will start to do some investigating into the history of my house. It is apparently over 150 years old, and had a fieldstone fence in the back. It's a cute, one storey, with bay windows, lots of french doors, hardwood floors and transom windows. I love my little house and want to find out if an Irish family built it - should be fun.
Have a wonderful day - prayers for and good thoughts to you.
Margaret
when did the spelling of storey change??? (the spell-checker wants to change the spelling) I know that a 'story' refers to a tale, but a 'storey' refers to a level of a house. It might be a language barrier - you know, a Canadian/American spelling thing.

Yesterday I went and worked out in the pool, great workout and it makes me feel so much better. Plans for today is I will work out again at the gym, I love the pool. Worked on weights and cardio.
Nothing new with me, I'm just chugging along and time is flying. Take care everyone, have a great day! Hugs and prayers for all in need. Debbie
My new doctor called with lab results. Everything is off off off...thyroid is WAY OFF. But we knew this would be since I didn't have any meds for quite awhile. So discussed how we want to approach the problems and we worked it out.Script for synthyroid called in, start my BP med again, but not going to take the anti-depressent or GERD med anymore. Will repeat labs 6 wks and see him in 7 wks. We both feel that once we get the thyroid back within normal ranges or at least lower, the other lab abnormals should reflect better results. Hoping that the swelling in my face and hands and feeling in my feet and hands will subside. Glad he didn't want to try and fix everything at once. We forget how powerful the thyroid is. If you are hypo, your body thinks it is starving so fat is stored and weight loss impossible. I know from my measuring tape that I have added 2 inches to middle me. Weight is up by 10 lbs and I know this will melt away with thyroid control.
I have an app with FL DMV tomorrow for FL ID. Spoke with a person who told me what to bring to help with this process, I have a folder all made up. Will then go to bank with ID to open account and get another photo ID and maybe SS. Won't be able to have a GTG with Lynn & Carla, bummer.
Special prayer today for Bev, hoping the drama with her DIL is expelled.
Glad you are enjoyng exercise Margaret, you sound wonderful.
Hugs, Monica
Yesterday I went with my DIL to her neurologist appt. She is still losing weight and her hair is thinning. Part of the side effects of the meds. She loves to go to the gym but has stopped because of the weight loss, but that adds to her stress cause she feels all messed up without her normal routine! We love her so and are worried about her. Our son also had a Dr. appt yesterday about his back. He wants a referral to a different back doc since he didn't like the first. Of course, the military has to exhaust all options first. Pain management, chiropracter, electro shock, etc. They will be doing nerve conduction tests on his hand. He hasn't even addressed the shoulder yet!
After the doc yesterday my DIL and I went all over Wilmington looking at fabric. We need just a few things for me to have everything to finish all of the Halloween costumes. I have never seen a JoAnn Fabrics store as big as the one ther!! As we were checking out my DIL said, we didn't even look at the crochet books. I told her if she took me down that aisle we would be there another 2 hours. We were gone 6 hours!! I was exhausted. How do these young girls do it?
Our daughter has still not heard anything from the Military Camp our grandson is at. He didn't call her on Tues, which is their regular time to call. She has emailed and left phone messages for everyone from the commendant to the janitor I think!! But, like most military type places, if one person in the unit screws up, everyone pays the consequences, so maybe they all lost privilages because of one kid. But it would still be nice if someone replied to her! Tonight is another regular call night, we will see if he calls.
Today I finish a swashbuckler type shirt. Very ruffly and blousy. I can finally hem the Roman toga after my tallest grandson tried it on. Then I will begin a crochetted baby layette for a friend's daughter. I thought I had lots of time, since the baby isn't due til October. But her baby shower is the end of this month when out of state relatives will be here. She may just get a picture for now!
I hope everyone is finding solutions to their troubles. Tethered aquatics, sounded like some kinda torture till I read the full story. Monica, as always I am so proud of your continued sobriety!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!
I love to sew and now that I'm getting thinner again, I would love to start sewing some new clothes for myself. Next time I go to San Antonio I'm going to have to make time to go to the big JoAnn's store there. It's huge, like the one you're talking about.
Love to hear about all your projects. I'm crocheting some preemie things this week. They're so tiny and sweet. Such fun to make them.
I am having computer problems, which I thihnk can be resolved by replacing the battery. Let's hope.
Today, the Munchkins and I are going to Sesame Place, an amusement park five minutes away, which is geared for the Sesame Street age group. We should have a blast. Tonight Mom is going to join us for dinner at my ex's. My daughter is hostping it.
Have a good day.
Hugs,

The pickle making adventure continues today. Yesterday I got all those cukes washed and then I decided to make the dill slices first, since they only take 2 days. The kosher style dills take 5 days, and I only have the one big pickle crock.
Anyway, I cut up the cukes into crinkle style slices (which just about took out my shoulder--damn this bursitis!) and the slices have been soaking overnight in lime water to make them crisp. Today I have to rinse them 4 times, then let them soak in ice water 4 hours, and then this afternoon I can cook up my brine and can the pickles. I love this recipe. I add grape leaves, banana peppers, garlic cloves, peppercorns, etc. to each jar before I add the pickle slices. They look very rustic! And they taste divine, but they have to sit in a dark pantry and cure for 2 months before you can eat them!
Tonight I'll start the kosher dills. These pickles have to sit in alum water for 3 days to make them crisp, so it will be next week before I can actually can them.
Today I feel like the weight of the world is pressing in on me. I have so much to do this week and I don't feel like I'm accomplishing much as each day passes. I used to be so organized and driven when I was working full-time. Nothing got by me. Since I've been staying home these last 4 years, I've gotten lazy! I need someone to kick my butt into gear today.
It's still blasted hot and I don't know if I'll feel like mowing any today or not. It's not the heat so much that gets to me. It's the direct sunshine. I'm a fair-skinned gal and I burn easily. I have to wear sunscreen AND a long sleeved shirt to mow, and it's just waaay too hot for that! I wish we would get some cloud cover or at least a partly sunny day. I could handle that. But no, the sun is shining full force again today. We'll just have to see if I can force myself to get out there and mow again or not.
Oh, well, one of the advantage to living in the country is you don't have to contend with your neighbors being mad at your because you haven't mowed your grass! No neighborhood beautification committee out here! LOL!
Love you all!
Morning OFF family!!!!
Well last night Rick and I went out for an ice cream to cool off...BIG mistake!!! We BOTH ended up with the runs!!!! OMG what a time we had!!! We will never go back to that place again for an ice cream!!!!
Went to Walmart last night also. Was looking at some shoes and this man came up to me and asked me if I worked there. I said no sorry I don't. He said sorry to me and stated that I looked like I was important so that is why he thought I worked there!! HUH????? Then about 15 minutes later I was looking at DVD movies in the $5 bin. Another guy comes up to me and asks if I worked there!!!! I said no I do not. He said I looked like I did work there...HUH????????? I had on my green and white striped top along with my kahki capri pants with my clogs. Now how did I look like I worked there????? LOL I told Rick when I found him that 2 guys asked me if I worked there!!! He said WHAT??? LOL I said I wasn't going back there again...LOL Well I have to go back because the shorts I bought do not fit me...to small. So it goes to show that not all size 12's are the same fit!!!! Oh well.
Rick's mom stopped over last night with Anthony. That baby isn't a baby anymore!! He is 3 now and is BIG!!! But he is still NOT potty trained!!!!! What is the matter with Nicole and Diane not getting that kid potty trained???????????? Rick is mad beyond mad about that!!! He wants to go in the pool but I said NO!! Not until you are potty trained!!!! He just grins at me...he is smart as a whip so why can't he be trained to go potty??????????? They must like changing poopy pants is my guess!!!! GROSS!!!!!!!
Weather here today is cooler but still on the muggy side yet. Was supposed to get some storms yesterday but nothing at all happened. Saw the Haboob on the weather channel that happened out in Arizona!!! OMG what a mess that was!!!! It was a sight to see on tv though!!! Huge wall of dust that took over the whole town...wow!!!!!! Hope those that were in the path of that are ok!!!!
Well guess Bandit has to go out for potty walk again so I need to get off here and take him out. Prayers and thoughts to those that need them!!
HUGS
Just because a kid is 3 doesn't mean it's automatically potty trained. My friend Rox's boy Cody was nearly 5 before he was completely potty trained. She left it up to her husband, who's fairly lazy ... by the time Rox was pregnant with her second kid, Cody still wasn't trained and then Rox was home on maternity leave. She said by the time she was done, Cody would be trained ... and he was ... because he was starting kindergarten in the fall. Rox is nothing if not determined.
On the other hand, my niece's two boys were potty trained by the time they were 2. Both are smart and their parents were disciplined.
