Our water aerobics instructor announced that the gym will offer a trial of WATER Zumba. That sounds interesting but I have other plans tomorrow night. I'll give it a try next week though.

I am a life-long  couch potato - (except for a number of years where I did aerobics faithfully in my home with a VHS tape) and I have started an aquatics class and last night attended my first Zumba class.  This 60 year old body still has it, whatever "it" is!  I made it through the class and didn't embarrass myself.  I think that I am more fit than I thought.  I could not have done Zumba before WLS.  My legs did feel a little rubbery at times last night, but I just adjusted what I was doing and kept moving.  The salsa music was wonderful.

Prior to last night, I sat in my house for weeks and got ready to go to Zumba and would then chicken out and stay home.  I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up.  I'm so glad that I went last night.  The teacher made a point of telling me that I did well.  Ha!  I was old enough to be the mother of most of the participants and the grandmother of at least one.  And, one of the best parts was that I got to do "the jerk" again.  Remember"the jerk"?  I used to love dancing, and now I can go out and dance the way that I want to!  WOW!

If anyone is contemplating taking Zumba, and you're ready for and capable of a vigorous workout, try it.  It's not as intimidating as it sounds.

Hopefully I can keep up the momentum for the summer and after my vacation is over.  I'm a little worried about exercising when I have lots of work to do, but I will just take one day at a time and enjoy myself now.

Margaret,

Great reading about your experience with Zumba, it is really a fun form of exercise, wish I could get to a class that was early in the day, I am fully charged after a Zumba class, so evening Zumba is not something that would work for me, I will find a way to at least get some classes in soon. . .

I don't know anyone who has come away without loving it.  Enjoy!

I have struggled for a long time, having gained enough that some of my "new skinny clothes" didnt fit anymore. I was on a  roll and a BAD one at that. But when we went away in late March & early April, I ate mostly seafood but I still didnt resist those darned crab hush puppies..darn!

Then Mom passed away while we were in Key West..from then on, Ive gotten much more careful...then the Wellness Show and then, of course, my battle with a bad case of cellulitis..this all seemed to take the stuffin' out of me and I just couldn't eat...maybe even a bit of depression?? I don't know but it was enough to get me past all those darned cravings and now I'm eating much better now and losing weight again!

Trying to drink enough water..always hard when you're always on the road as I usually am...hard to stop every five minutes when you've taken your water pills..darn! The good side of living in the country is that there are always bushes by the road! lolol..and hungry mosquities!

Normally this train trip means I snack all seven hours to Albany on bad things but this time I have Kashi bars, fruit leathers in controlled portions-cherry pieces 60 calories...nuts and sugarfree gum..also taking my water bottle and snack sized baggies filled with my hot chocolate protein drink and special shaker cup/Starbucks travel mug from Dallas!

And I will study as we travel..taking four heavy-reading textbooks: Sarno's Mind & Body, Gary Zukav's Spiritual Partnership, Napolean Hill"s Think & Grow Rich and the Four Agreements..and one novel to relax with. This will keep my mind off eating.

I'm rewarding myself with a trip to Catherine's Ladie's Wear in Albany..always classy stylish clothes in bigger sizes...but pricey...so I intend to also visit The Dress Barn as well. I'm not petite but I'm a heck of alot smaller now than 431 pounds! woohoo! And it feels good to NOT need the BIGGEST size they have! Before I'd reward myself with treats...now I use clothing.

So that's my plan to stay on track. (bad pun, sorry)

Hi Laureen,
I too just returned from vacation. Read 4 books and walked. Enjoyed just sitting by the lake looking across the lake to Mackinac Island, the bridge and watching the ships go by.

So today after work, it's back to the gym and working out. Yep we both know what to do to get those pounds off. I'm under stress with work, some lay-off's and people will be changing jobs and it's so stressful. I have to not stress eat. Ugh!

I'm drinking my water now and taking my vitamins. I will be drinking a EAS shake for breakfast, later when I need to much I have a Fuji apple and baby carrots. My tummy needs to rest from the vacation and I have to detox from sugar and carbs once again. So another EAS shake for lunch and later afternoon just before I go to work out. For me it's important to get back that control. I'm happy to say I didn't eat one piece of fudge while I went to Mackinac City. For me that was success! This weight will come off I just have to be more mindful with what I eat. So getting back to basics for me is a must, exercising is a must. Drinking all my water is a must! Hugs Debbie
