Sleepy Sunday...What's New?

Good Morning OFF Family,
I can't sleep...too wound up from the party for my Munchkins, and having a ton of pain in that pinched nerve area.  My therapist wants me to do some Mindfulness Meditation training, for my pain.  So, I spent a few hours researching on the Internet, to try to find a program.  I found one, but it costs a pretty penny, but I could also use it for hours toward my social work license renewal, which requires 30 hours every two years.  I could get 24 hours in this training, and the cost is about equal to if I went to 4 six hour workshops.

The birthday party was great fun.  Lincoln got more trains, his favorite toys.  He is such a smart boy.  The box on the wooden train set says it is recommended for kids age 3 and up, because to put the track together, you have to join the pieces like a puzzle.  He puts it together on his own, and makes a giant track all the way across the living room.  Once he starts putting a train together, he is mesmirized.  He is totally oblivious to everyone in the room and does not hear you when you talk to him.  Oh, he turns 2 in a month.

Isabel got a bunch of Barbie stuff, and a Ballerina Barbie.  She and Aunt Kathy, my sis-in-law, spent hours dressing and undressing the Barbies and the Kens.

My ex's Mother gave each of the kids Little Golden Books that had belonged to my ex when he was little.  She saves everything.  One of the books she gave Lincoln was about a train.  She also gave him a set of books about Thomas the Tank Engine.

After the cake and ice cream, which I only had two bites of cake, we all walked to the end of the street, where Tyler State Park is, and watched fireworks.  Isabel had two sets of Glow Sticks that we were all wearing.

Another fun thing we got to do was talk to my daughter-in-law in California on my son's iPhone.

Sunday has me catching up on sleep, and taking Utley to the yard to piddle.  Then, I will be watching the Phillies/Blue Jays game.  Cliff Lee will be going for his fourth complete game shut out in a row.

I hope everyone has a terrific day.

Hugs,
Trish

Good Morning Trish~
Sounds like you had a great day! I'm home from my Mom's house. I go back in the morning, then have a few days off. I hired caregivers today- they will start next week. Then my brother and I will alternate weekends. We'll see how it goes. I'm thrilled to get back more of my own life. My Mom is not being as pleasant to me anymore. I think she needs more alone time- but damn, that's a dilemna. We'll muddle through it. My dogs are very happy to have me home- my husband too! Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder!

Hi Julia,
I hope this arrangement you have for your Mom works out.  I am blessed that my Mom lives independently so far.  At 84 she is as feisty as ever.  I think if she had to live less independently, she would rather go home to Jesus.  She still drives 2 hours to visit  She lives in the house her former male friend lived in and left for her to live in.  The house then reverts to his son.  On Wednesday, her best friend from high school and she goes to the Salvation Army for bargains.  On Tuesdays she volunteers at the Veterans Administration hospital a block from her home.  She regularly gets together with a group of her friends at McDonalds at noon for coffee and a "Bull" session, which she affectionately calls her "Group Therapy."

I will pray for your Mom.

Hugs,
Trish

Julia, having caregivers can make all the difference in your stress level. We had the advantage of being able to hire caring ones that were all CNAs and recommended by other residents at the retirement place my parents lived. We only had to pay $8 an hour. My Momma knew she needed them and was very ammenable. My Gramma, on the other hand fought tooth and nail to be able to stay in her own house and care for herself!

I'm glad your life is getting back to normal. I guess we have to realize that it isn't forever, just like when we were precocious 2 year olds. Our Mommas cared for us, knowing that it would only last another SIXTEEN years!!!

Trish, time with the grandchildren is like no other time in our lives. Sounds like you are gonna have a train engineer and a fashion designer in the future. Maybe you'll be able to ride Amtrak in your designer clthes for free!

Good Morning Trish, OFFr's

Sounds like the Meditation thing would be good all around, both for your pain and creditial needs. . .the party sounds like fun too.

So I'm here in sunny Florida for my next to last day, it has been a wonderful visit, though the weather was not great the first two days, yesterday, today and tomorrow are supposed to all be pretty nice, we spent part of yesterday at the beach and then went to one of my favorite dockside restaurants afterwards, The Dolphin View, had a nice lunch of grillled pineapple glazed Mahi Mahi and then we all came home and well after a day at the beach we just kind of hung out.  Also met my younger daughter's new b/f, he seemed nice enough, time will tell all.

I have been eating on plan and most of my exercise has been of the walking variety, though yesterday was spent playing in the waves with my grandson, who loves the water. . .

Today the grandkids are off with their dad so we can go car shopping with my younger daughter as she is giving her 2005 Corolla to her stepmom, *****cently totalled her car and since Angela was planning on giving her stepmom her car in the near future, the universe has conspired to make that now.  We went on Friday to look at cars and she drove a used Lexus, which was a really nice car, but more money than she wants to spend right now, then she drove a civic, which while Honda makes reliable cars, is a rattle trap vehicle and I knew she would not like it, funny thing, Corolla's while the Toyota sister to the Civic, has a much more stable and smoother ride. . .  anyway, she has ruled out some cars and another car she has in mind is the Mini Cooper Clubman and she likes the Ford Edge, but the price of gas is a component on that one .  . .  anyway that's our day plans, tonight we will go to the fireworks display here and then tomorrow is looking like another beach day and I will head to the airport around 5 p.m. as my flight is tomorrow night at 7, trip has gone too fast and I wish I could have visited with some Florida sistahs, but time here is short, hopefully another time. . .

I am missing my Roxie girl and roommate said she has been moping around running to the window everytime she hears a car, so I should have a nice reunion tomorrow when I get home. . .

I'm out of touch with you all, so I'll try to catch up on your activities, in the meantime, I wish you all the very best life has and the peace and strength to get through the challenges life brings our way.

Hugs, Laureen

Good mornin' ya'll.
Well, I was gonna start another Halloween costume as soon as I finished my cocoa this morning. My DH is going to NE to visit his brother later this month. He has a lawn mower motor he wants to UPS out there. One of the grandsons was gonna take it off the old mower and drain it. Well, grandkids have a lot to do in the summer, and trying to pin them down to a time is hard. That motor has to be sent so it will get thete before my DH. Sooooo, before I start my Toga costume, I will be unscrewing an engine and setting it up so the oil and gas drain out!! I love my BIL and feel very sorry for him. He lives alone in a trailer that is falling apart on a small piece of land be bought years ago. Unfortunately most of his life he worked for himself. He did work enough for others to earn SSI benefits, but he only gets about $500 a month! We have bought 2 used trucks for him over the last 20 years! He is 85 now and my DH tries to get out to see him once a year. Soooooo, no shower til after that project.
And the costume won't be started until later!
Oh, our grandson who is at military camp sent an email begging for some of gramma's goodies for him and his roommate. So tomorrow I will be making brownies and magic cookie bars. I also need to go to Walmart and get some peanut butter crackers to include.
I hope our son comes and gets the boat cushions this morning, they are taking up a lot of space in my dining room.
Everyone have a fantabulous and safe holiday weekend.

Good morning everyone! I have been a little scarce on line the last few days. Mike is in FL until tomorrow, so we have been enjoying  some simple days together. Today looks like a perfect beach day.

Trish, the party sounds wonderful - with fireworks to top it all off! I smiles as I read your description of the kids and their gifts.

Take it easy, everyone!

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Sounds like everyone is having sleep problems. I went to bed to sleep (I read in bed first, then try to sleep) about 2 a.m.; dozed off for about 20 minutes, then couldn't get back to sleep for awhile, so I read for little while more. Got back to sleep about 2:45; woke up at 6:15, went to the bathroom, got up at 6:30 couldn't get back to sleep, so finally got up about 6:45 and came out in the living room. Made a pot of coffee ... don't usually make a whole pot because I usually only have time for one cup. But today ...

Since I'm up, I think I'll bake something to bring into work. I have blueberries in the fridge, grated zucchini; could make my chocolate zucchini cake, or blueberry muffins, or zucchini bread ... we'll see. I am going to have spaghetti for dinner ... smells so good; the sauce is wonderful.

We went out to see Monroe's fireworks last night ... lasted all of about 10 minutes. Pretty, but very short. So I don't think Juliette was too rattled. Only a few big boomers, and they were near the end. She knows how to open the bedroom closet door if she needs to hide.

Trish, I watched your Phillies yesterday afternoon; my game wasn't on locally. But I was at work anyway; The Sox beat the Cubs 1-0 so I was happy. Hope they can sweep today.

Back to work this afternoon and also tomorrow. I don't get my holiday this week; I'll have to try to get it off some other week. Lately, I'm getting my days off on Wednesdays and Fridays, so maybe I can get a Thursday off in there and get three days off in a row for once.

Well, have a good one.

Been to church and Kroger.....going down to pick up my sis and we will visit with my cousin Judy who is dying of cancer .... it's so hard to go visit and see her like this....just breaks my heart....praying for a peaceful release soon.

Then sis and I are going to take a little road trip and have lunch out someplace.  She has to be home by 5 so it will be a short afternoon.

Fireworks here got rained out with severe t-storms last evening.  They are rescheduled for tonite.

It's warm today, but not nearly as bad as yesterday -- we had 102 with the heat index.....I couldn't breathe outside it was awful.

Have a lovely day,
Pat R,
