Cindy,

I think it depends more upon your own tolerance for pain, but if you have the lap instead of the full incission, you should be fine.  Even though I had breathing problems and was on vent for the first twentyfour hours after sugery, by my third day at the hospital, I was ready to come home.  And, he did let me leave a day later and he only kept me that long because I had over a nine hour drive. I had very little help from anyone in the hospital and when I got home on Sunday night, really  late, I climbed the stairs to my room, got up the next morning and made breakfast for my dh and son, and went to school where I taught two sections of Latin.  So, it can be done.  I was really tired and had to sit a lot; mainly because of the lack of food.  But, after about two weeks, I began to feel my energy return. I couldn't take the liquid pain meds--it had too much of a sugary taste, so I did without pain meds until I figured out that I could swallow tylenol tablets cut into three little pieces.  Just fill your refrigerator with sugar free jellos, your freezer with popsicles, and make some homemade broth and you will be fine.

I wonder if George got to be at the Rangers game last night and wear sunglasses. Looks like it was a fun time and we all know how he loves his Rangers.

Wow, a lot going on here today!

I have been away from the keyboard for a few days. We flew to FL on Saturday for a Father's Day celebration with one son, DIL, and 2 granddaughters. Mexican food and sunshine - it was great!

Mike and I celebrated our 8th anniversary on Monday with a relaxing day together. We ate at one of our favorite seafood restaurants - I got a shrimp ****tail served in a little boat made of ice - so cute!

Mike left last night - flight delayed due to storms in FL, and then arrived amid storms up north. He got home at 2:30 a.m. - I wish they had just cancelled the flight so he could have come back here and left early this morning!

Today I have a vacation day "just for me." I am doing some basics (laundry, groceries) and also organizing some activities for my time here. I will be working online each day, but want to take advantage of being in FL as much as I can.

Monica, the SS hassle reminds me of getting my new card when I remarried. I had lost the old one, but needed a SS card to get a PA drivers license (which makes no sense at all to me but that's anohter matter!). I had to wait forever at the SS office, and BEG them to help me. I don't remember exactly what magic was required to get the new card, but I agree, it isn't easy! But idenity thieves do it all the time! What gives?

Wishing all of you the best in whatever your day holds!

Hello everyone,

I'm so happy. All your prayers and sleepy thoughts have worked. Ellen was home last night and took kitty into her bedroom for the night. I went to bed at 1AM and didn't get up until 8:45AM. First time to sleep like that in almost 7 weeks. I actually feel rested and human again.
Doing laundry again. Seems like it's never done. I'm running behind and need to switch covers to the summer weight. More laundry.
Well, 2 hours on the computer is enough. Will check in later.
Hugs, prayers and happy thoughts for all,    Mag

Glad you got some sleep at last, Mag. I slept well last night too. I think the rain has helped. We've had two days of rain here. Blessed rain.

I would love to be in Arizona. I need to be somewhere dry for my arthritis and asthma. Too humid here in La.

Hi All- I see three pages of responses... I must try for 4. This is my last morning at home. Our air conditioner is overheating and has to be looked at- of course it will be 104 degrees here today. So housework is out, laundry is out... I slept late and it felt sooooooooooooooo good! I am going to leave soon and spend a few hours in an air conditioned Starbucks before I go back to Mom's. We (Mom and I) have a big day tomorrow- picking up hearing aids in the morning, physical therapy and social worker visit in the afternoon. It will be too much for my Mom for one day for sure, but they will see the extent of the dementia I think.
Gosh- I don't have anything interesting to talk about! That is just SAD! Oh wait- Penny, my new lab is potty trained finally (I'm almost afraid to say it!)- I'm so proud of her!
See you all in a few days....

Julia:

Do you think I have anything interesting to talk about? All I do is ***** about work.

Glad Penny is potty trained. That's a big task.

Enjoy the Starbucks.
