What's Up on Saturday?

Hey Mag,
The doc said I still have a lot of swelling in the two toes that were swollen three weeks ago.  He asked me about anti-inflammatories, and I reminded him about the gastic bypass.  He was going to put me on prednisone, but I just got off of it, and still have significant swelling.  He asked about Lasix, a diuretic, but I am already on it.  All I can do is stay off the foot as much a possible and come back in six weeks.  At that time, if they are still swollen, he will put me on prednisone again.

The therapy is psychotherapy.  I inherited bipolar disorder from Mom, and alcoholism from Dad, along with developing borderline personality disorder in my younger days.  I ruined my marriage with my behavior, and only started becoming stable when my ex moved out and filed for divorce.  It is a miracle my kids want me in their lives.  My son, the one that took me to Florida for Spring Training as a Christmas present, told me that the reason my kids and I have a good relationship is because I took responsibility for my behavior, and changed the way I relate to them.  I learned the importance of doing that from my Mom, who never took responsibility, and never attempted to change how she relates.  Her attitude is, "I am the Mom/Grandmother, and I am entitled to be a *****"

Sorry to go into so much detail, but I was discussing these very issues in my session this afternoon.  I still struggle with a lot of guilt and shame during family events where I must see my ex and his wife.  We all get along very well, and help each other out.  In fact, his wife was at my sis-in-law's bridal shower last week, and they are going to drive down to Maryland for her wedding in July.  (Sis-in-law is my brother's widow, not ex's sister.)

I am really looking forward to my job.  I have a lot of training to undergo in the next two weeks.

Thanks for asking.

Hugs,
Trish

Trish,
Thanks for sharing. I'm so glad you have a good relationship with your children. I love kids and wanted 6 or more with a house with a white picket fence. Didn't happen. Many times I have said I'm glad I didn't due to the bi-polar situation. Probably wouldn't have gone well. I am still very blessed in my life. Dealing with the mental and emotional issues has made me a stronger person (I think)   Mag
