TGIF What's Up?
Hey Karen,
You must be a pretty good seamstress if you altered gowns. I am still a novice, but improving. I have not mastered zippers, or even tried buttonholes. I cheat with my grandson's coveralls. I put in snaps for the shoulder straps and then put a button on the top for decoration. I think it is easier to dress a toddler with snaps, rather than buttons anyway.
I like the quiet of a summer morning as well. I walked Utley down by the Delaware River this morning and the park was empty, and the river pretty full from a storm we had last night, plus the tide coming in.
Have a good day.
Hugs,
Trish

Morning Trish and my OFF friends!
Too much going on here! First of all, we're all miserable with the heat. It's been in the mid to upper 90's for 10 days now with no relief in sight. The grass is drying up, birds are suffering and so are we! Can't and DON'T want to imagine what August will be like.
Gary had to go to San Diego for a legal matter on Wednesday. Southwest somehow got things messed up, so he didn't get into SD until 10:30 p.m.,, three hours later than expected. Then, his "20 minute hearing" ended up lasting all day so he missed his return flight home. I still haven't managed to get all the details out of him, but he'll be home tonight around 8:00. What a mess, poor guy!
Jeff, our DS and Tess, his wife are into tattoos. WAY too far into tattoos, IMHO, and it's finally come home to roost. He got a nasty infection on the site of his latest ( not the fault of the artist, per the doctor), so he's on heavy antibiotics and my need to get IV treatment if it doesn't start clearing up soon. I'm really worried about him, but Tess and I will keep on it.
Okay, gotta run. Hope everyone has a Jim Dandy day, and if you see Jim, tell him hi for me!

Susan
Our middle daughter, Jess, and our son Angus, heavy into body art. Neither have gotten an infection with all the work they have had done. However, Sara, who only has 2 small wrist tattoos...believe in English and Gaelic, got an infection with the Gaelic one. Nasty rubbing place. Thankfully antibiotics cleared it up quickly. She was also put on a medrol dose pack.
Horrid for Gary and his traveling. Sad not to be able to rely on flights. Very mad I am at Delta and the excessive bag fees they have been charging our returning soldiers. Glad the media got hold of this. I made sure the WH and my congressional members knew this is another slap in our military faces.

Hi Trish, OFFr's,
Sorry you could not get cool enough to sleep, hopefully, you can nap or something at some point today. . .
Happy Friday, I sure am happy this work week is coming to an end and looking forward the the first of my summer 3-day weekends, which I have scheduled to occur every other weekend, having one extra day off a week makes my life much more relaxed.
Last night's dinner with my friend Owen and his son was nice, he grilled steak and steamed asparagus grown in his own garden, mushroom and cauliflower and we had a small salad, dessert was this ice cream I found a while back by Turkey Hill, called Coconut Almond Fudge, sf of course. My friend Owen is someone who can achieve just about anything he puts himself to doing, he swims, works out, does Bikram Yoga and bike rides, oh and 3 summers ago, he took up kayaking and last summer came in 1st and 2nd in some race that takes place yearly at the shore, he calls himself a yard ape, as he loves gardening and last night I saw his yard for the first time, seen it before, but not in season, well it is truly a place of beauty and relaxation, the variety he has, means that throughout the season he has something blooming and growing and he has a couple of nice trees with bird feeders and last night while sitting out there the hummingbirds came to the humming bird feeders he has set up and there was, not that I knew there were different kinds, a red necked humming bird, it was beautiful, then there is his two poodles, they are littermates and about 6 years old now, Bella and Peanut, Peanut has her name because she is really a peanut, not sure if they are toy or minis but they are something to watch sniffing out whatever trouble can be found in the yard. . . we watched as the storm approached from the west and just after we got to our meeting, the skies opened up and what a sight mother nature is, I do love to watch lighting and thunder. . . when we left the meeting the storm had moved east and we got the benefit of watching lighting light up the skies as I drove him home, then went home to bed.
So I woke up this morning at 5 something, spent time with Roxie, got myself out the door and hit the gym, that makes 4x this week, 4x last week and I think I may go tomorrow and take off Sunday. Working 9 to 5 today due to summer hours schedule, whereby we rotate folks that get to leave at 3:30 every so often. No plans this evening, other than to relax, think I earned some down time, then I have house stuff to take care of tomorrow, otherwise things will be quiet.
Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful day, it is less hot, but certainly not less humid and that is what I hate about summer, humidity makes me feel like a dishrag. . . oh well, I knew it would not take long to complain about the weather. . . do love the longer days though. . . good with the bad.
Have a good one, wishing peace and strength to all those in need of extra servings.

Hi Trish and every Off friend,
It seems that many of us are struggling with different things right now. My love and concern to all. Sorry to you all suffering from heat and humidity. That humidity is what gets me when I go visiting in Indiana.
The wildfire that was southwest of us has been contained on the north by making a fire break. Everyone here is out of danger. The biggest fire is closer to Sharon and still has no containment, Thousands have been evacuated already. It's the second largest fire in AZ history. It will probably become the largest soon. The wind has died down which is a blessing. There is one more fire on the AZ-NM border. It is small and sparsely populated. Shouldn't be a problem.
Please say a prayer for me for health and well being. It's a difficult time.
As always, Mag

I'm so sorry Mag that you are going through a hard time- I'm assuming it's a depression cycle. I went through a particularly deep period of depression a number of years ago and I remember a few things that helped some- peppermint tea, crackers, a schedule, no TV news, reading "Anne of Green Gables" (it occupied my mind, was interesting, pleasant- no sad stuff), watching comedies. I do know how hard this is and how lonely I felt when I went through it. You are not alone... this will pass. You will be OK. I remember thinking that my old personality was gone forever, but it really wasn't- I came back crazier and stronger.
Julia

Thanks Julia, I will take your advice and do nice things for myself. It is like I am doing rapid cycling between mania and depression multiple times a day. Your are so right. sometimes it's hard to know who I really am. All I know right now is I'm exhausted and frustrated. I can fall asleep, but then in 2 or 3 hours I'm wide awake. I'm going to try to get some sleep right now. Mag

Hi Mag,
One thing I was not prepared for in the early days post-op, which I see you still are, is the hormonal fluctuation in emotions. The body releases hormones that were stored in fat during rapid weight loss. Add to that, adjusting to the lifestyle changes, like radical change in diet, and increased exercise, and I was a basket case on somedays, and on cloud nine the next. It was after that I also learned I am bipolar...go figure.
Hang in there, and do nice things for yourself each day...little comfort things to treat yourself. You deserve it.
Hugs,
Trish
