Son is in the hospital

So, I was checking my Facebook page this afternoon, and saw my son had posted he was in the emergency room.  Calls to his cell went straight to voicemail, and there was nobody answering his house phone.  Argh!!!!!  I tried texting him, and nothing.  So, I waited patiently, something I am not good at.  Finally, his girlfriend calls me.  Sean had to have a sibacious cyst, which had abscessed, drained in his mouth.  He is going to be hospitalized for the next day or two in Pittsburgh, six hours away.  I asked if I should come out there, and I was told "no."  You know I would have been there right away if he needed me.

I am going to post a message on Facebook to all young people about posting stuff like that without details is not fair to parents.

Prayers for my son's recuperation would be greatly appreciated.

Hugs,
Trish

Trish, I once learned a very dear friend of mine, Margie, had died via Facebook. Her daughter (who never called mom) posted about her mom's death. That's how I found out ... and I spoke to her mom much more than her No. 2 daughter did. I was upset that No. 1 daughter hadn't called me ... I considered myself like a sister (or maybe another daughter ... at least part of her family), and to find that Margie had died that way really hurt me. So, yeah, I understand how you feel.

Hope all is well with your son.

Prayers for you and your son. He is where he needs to be now. You are where you need to be. Crazy how easily stuff gets posted on social networks. My daughter, Sara thinks I post too much too often and then she puts stuff up that gets me.

Trish, prayers for your son and for you.
We have become such a technical generation no one speaks one to one!
Just last week my daughte posted on FB that she was with our granddaughter while she got another ultrasound! Our DIL is the one who saw it first and called me. We both tried to get ahold of them. Finally our granddaughter posted on HER FB that she was fine. Mt DIL and I both called and told our daughter we thought that was something we should have been called about. She said why, it was no big deal. Well, duh, we didn't know that.
When our kids were teenagers and we tried to get them to let us know where they were going or what they were doing, our daughter was notorius for saying: "If anything happens the authotities will notify you!"
Everyone, in your cell phone have a listing for ICE. Cops and EMTs look for that now. That stands for " in case of emergency". I have mine numbered ICE # 1, Ray. Then 2, 3, and 4.

Trish, prayers being said for your son.
Ugh...things like this isn't good to know on facebook. Phones!! Call and leave a message is much better. I'm so sorry you had to sit and wait but it sounds like your boy is going to be fine and is being taken care of. Hugs to you too! Debbie

Trish,
So sorry your son is ill. Will pray for him. Young people march to their own drummer, don't they. I wonder if our parents felt the same way about us. Take care.     Mag

Trish....you must have been worried sick.

Please do post on FaceBook.....kids don't get it until the have older kids of their own and it happens to them. Just a simple post explaining WHAT is going on doesn't take that long....just saying "going to ER" just doesn't cut it!!

Hugs....connie d

Trish,
Sorry you had to find out about your son's trip to the hospital via FB. Thank God it was not something more life threatening! Kids! Watrugonnado? Payback! That's what to do. Post some vague message like "EMERGENCY! Have to go right now!" Then don't answer your phone. After several hours, call him back and tell him you ran out of something and had to go to the store.
