Hot Humid Wednesday - What's Up Where You Are
Hi Laureen - It is hot and humid here, too, and supposed to get worse as the week goes on.
I saw the cardiologist on Monday and had the stress test, which was fairly easy - not like it would have been if I was still obese. The cardiologis****ched the EKG as I walked on the treadmill, and the tech took my blood pressure and oxygen level at the same time.
The cardiologist told me that I did not have a silent heart attack. I did not have a heart attack of any kind and there is nothing blocked!
I can't tell you how happy and pissed off I was all at the same time. I asked the cardiologist why my family doctor would have told me that I did have a heart attack and a blockage. The cardiologist glanced sideways at the technician with a startled looked that said to me "what the hell - did you hear what she just said?" He told me that maybe the electrodes were not placed correctly. I think that he was trying to cover for my doctor.
I was ecstatic and skipped out of the office (well, almost). I will see my family doctor in a few days and have a talk with him about giving me information that was incorrect and that scared the hell out of me. He needs to think twice before reading an EKG and giving advice that he is clearly not qualified to give.
Thank you everyone for your concern and your prayers. It is always comforting to come here, lay my fears out and have many of you respond with love and kindness.
I hope that everyone stays cool today and enjoys the beauty that surrounds us. I know that I will.

Hello Margaret....I didn't delete my message it just went by itself!!!
I want to say..."Yay" no heart attack or blockage......what a relief for you and your family!!!!

Margaret, that's great news. Family doctors aren't specialists; they don't know everything. I had a test to see if I had nerve damage in my feet once; the woman did the test wrong (and boy did it hurt) ... I went to a neurologist and he redid the test (and it hurt again). He said I have some neuropathy but not what this other doctor who was not a neurologist said.
At least now you know. Better to be saw than sorry.

Wow, great news. I totally understand your anger at your PCP. I often found that the placement of electrodes made such a difference when performing an EKG. Many of the new machines are so sensitive and the machines give an interpretation printed out....do the doctors even review the "lines" or just read what the machine says? Ask for copies of both EKG's to add to your home medical file.
The weather here in SW FL is spectacular...yes hot and there is humidity in the air, but the morning and later evening is sweet breezes. Hoping for some rain. T'storms maybe later. Learning how to live here with comfort and joy. We are not as hot as we would be at campground on NH boarder. Spent 2 hows floating in cool pool waters, reading and exercising, my butt and upper legs a little sore from it. Also did too many arm rotations, got so excited doing them.
Thanks for sharing your good news with us, WE CARE.

Good Morning OFF-
Well the heat that you've all experienced is finally arriving in Maine today. I'm determined to get the lawn mowed (postage stamp size) before the heat settles in. Have lots of laundry to do as well but that isn't temperature related. I can at last hang the laundry out to dry since the sun and heat have arrived.
Good luck Kristi with the endoscopy. Asked my surgical corrdinator if my surgeon does those pre-op and got sometimes for an answer. So that's on the list of questions for next Tuesday. Wish I was already there and had the surgery scheduled I'm not a patient person in that regard.
Tomorrow I'm driving down to NH to see my PCP. Will get a chance to see my nephews and have dinner with them. Haven't seen the older one since his graduation last June. Saw the younger one last fall on my way to Texas.
So keeping it short today as I have lots to do before the day is done. Have a great day and hope everyone is doing good.

My center did an endoscopy pre-op (checks for ulcers, especially if you have arthritis and used a lot of NSAIDs or if you had a history of reflux). I had a history of Barrett's esophagus, so that was necessary anyway. Mine was very thorough. They also did a EKG and then my insurer had me get a stress test.
