What's New on Sunday?
Good day Trish and all OFF!
It's officially HOT here in central Texas today! Wow. Beautiful sunny day, but too hot to go outside and play--unless you're in the water!
So I'm here at Hilltop for the whole month of June, except for 4 days. I've unpacked and made a quick run to the little local grocery store here at the lake for a few essentials. I'll have to do a bigger grocery shopping in New Braunfels next week after my husband gets home.
We have so many deer here at Canyon Lake. And they've all just had their babies. When I got here on Friday evening, there was a baby fawn lying on my front deck! At first I thought it was dead, but it was just sleeping. His mama placed him in what she thought was a safe place while she went and foraged. Little did she know that people were about to invade her baby's safe spot!
This morning I let my dogs out for a potty break and they discovered another baby fawn in the vacant lot behind ours. Oh, they were just awful, running and chasing the poor little thing. And there I was, running and chasing after them! The good news is that the baby was not hurt and his mama came and got him. The bad news is that I put on quite a show for the neighbors running around in my flip flops and my pjs! Note to self: do not let the puppies out without their leash for the rest of this trip! And don't let them out of the house until I am dressed for the day!
I want to thank all of you for the sweet birthday wishes here and on FB. I had a great time with my family yesterday. Last year you couldn't have paid me to put on a bathing suit and go to a water park. This year, it was not a big deal at all. My 54-year old body didn't look any worse than anyone else's, and my daughters told me I looked a whole lot better than a lot of people there! Whether I did or I didn't, I sure felt comfortable in my own skin for a change. It was nice.
Just one more wee****il my DH comes home. I'll have to drive to Houston and pick him up at the airport. Then we'll go on home for 3-4 days while he has all his various doctors visits. Then we'll be back here for the rest of the month. We're going to remodel the guest bath this time. I can't wait to get started.
We bought this place last fall and it's an older home, built in 1967. The guest bath is the original bath and believe me when I tell you it is LONG overdue for an update! We're going to gut most of it, but the one feature that is going to remain is the tiled-in shower. I'm okay with it, but the shower tile is that awful ***** pink from the 60s. Ugh. But we're keeping it. Too expensive and too much work to tear it out and start over. SO, here's today's question for all you interior decorators out there: what color scheme can I use for a bathroom with pink tile?
I'm leaning towards going with pink, gray and white. But I could also do pink, green and white. And my hairdresser suggested pink, brown and white. (I don't think I can do the brown. I've never seen a brown bathroom before, although I know there is a lot of pink and brown being used in nurseries these days.) I am doing a cottage type decor thoughout the house, and I'm open to any suggestions!
Well, I'm off to Lowe's or Home Depot this afternoon. I'm going to pick up painting supplies, paint samples, and anything else that looks interesting. I'm going to put a coat of poly on our new deck furniture and hopefully it will last outdoors all summer. I want to see what paint colors they have that might work in the bathroom, too. I love playing with paint chips!
Hope you all are having a wonderful and relaxing Sunday. Stay in out of the heat!

While watching one of my marathon sessions of HGTV, they showed a paint/paint process that covers ceramic tile. I'd go to a paint store, like Sherwin Williams, to find out more. If anyone would know about it, they would.
I'm kind of intrigued with the "***** pink" though, I have to admit.

Good early evening everyone!!! My oh my, how entertaining it is to come and read all of the post here!! I'm still giggling over the "***** pink" tile....so loud that hubby asked what was amusing me....lol. He had to chuckle when I read Vickie's post. Vickie, we run an early, I mean wee morning hours newspaper route and see lots of deer. We LOVE the sites. We've seen a lot of young deer in these past several days so yes, it must be fawn season.
I think the green, pink and white/off white would be my choice, that is if you can't find a solution to cover up that pink...lol.
Monica, man did you send my mind whirling with the car wash. Let's just say that if there were such a place, I'd have the squeak est clean car in the Outer Banks...he he.
Yesterday's out ting @ Dare Day was fun. We took our cooler with healthy snacks and drinks, our comfortable outside chairs and found a shade tree close to the band stand and enjoyed our afternoon. It was hot but not so bad in the shade with a nice cool breeze. I posted pictures on FB.
Today was rest after such thick heavy newspapers to bag & deliver. Sunday papers are always extra big and they whip our butts. We're up with coffee and we'll have our left over Chinese food from last night. Then I'll take our babies for their evening walk. They love love love their walks!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful day and a nice relaxing evening.
