What's New on Sunday?

Good Morning OFF Family,
Boy, did I wear myself out at the bridal shower yesterday?  It was so lovely, my sis-in-law was in tears at one point.  The devotional pointed out God's faithfulness in giving her strength through the past few years.  She was widowed three years ago, when my brother died.  She shared afterward, that some friends were amazed at how her husband's family just embraced her.  I consider her my sister.  We may not be from the same womb, but she has been in my family for over 30 years, and she stuck by my brother through some rough times when he had some bipolar manic episodes and had to be hospitalized.  We had 50- 60 women who love Kathy at this shower.  It was just lovely.

There was an awkward moment when I was introducing two special women to some friends from church.  My ex's wife and mother were at the shower.  My ex and his wife and my family have remained close, and he and his wife will be attending the wedding, which is out of town.  The friends from church asked how we were related, and I was frank and said the Rosa was married to my ex, and Pat was his mother.  The miracle of it all is that I never dreamed I would be at the point where I would be comfortable with them.  I sometimes still struggle with shame about what I did to contribute to my divorce.  I have had some mental health issues which caused me to behave pretty badly, especially early on.  My kids and I are tight, because I got better and took responsibility for what I did years ago.  I never wanted my marriage to end, but it did.

Today has me heading to church, where I am dropping off some food in the freezer for a girl who is going through a tough time.  I also will participate in worship and communion.  Then, I want to hit the gym for a swim.  Afterward, it is the Phillies game on TV, where I hope they redeem themselves after two dismal losses to Pittsburgh.  I will also be sewing, as I am in the middle of a pair of shorts coveralls for my grandson.  I love to sew for my Munchkins.  It gives me such an outlet.

Tonight, I will probably lose at a game of Scrabble against Mom.  Somewhere in my schedule today, I must hit an AA meeting.  I have slacked off, due to not feeling well, and I need to get back to it.

Have a blessed day.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Trish, we were posting at the same time ... I deleted mine, but it felt good getting some stuff off my chest. Had a bad night at work and now I'm obsessing over it all and can't sleep. Someone called in sick and I got stuck with his workload on a Saturday night ... needless to say, that stressed me out, left me with a load of pain. So now I can't sleep. Sitting here with Juliette next to me and I'm watching a DVR'd show and having some Sleepytime Extra tea, hoping to unwind.

Wish I had some way to vent a little better. I'm trying not to say anything specific about work. I checked into taking my two pensions and filing for disability, but the pensions wouldn't be enough to support me while waiting for disability to go through. I just feel trapped.

Today is my mom's birthday. She is 87. Her mom lived to 90; one of her sisters, my Aunt Kay, was nearly 90 when she died. Mom is the last of 11 children in her family. I sent her a card with an IHOP gift card, and I'll talk to her this morning on Skype. But I sure wish I could be there because I know there aren't too many more birthdays coming for her.

Sorry your Phillies aren't doing well; my White Sox lost last night, too ... bullpen blew it. They had been doing fairly well but they've been leaving a lot of runners on base.

Well, that's all ... have a good one. I work again later today.

Good morning everyone! I am up early. Had a terrific day yesterday with a good morning workout and then a trip over to the Philadelphia area for support group. I don't get to make that meeting every month but yesterday was a real WOW. Excellent discussion of the LIFETIME commitment to WLS lifestyle, the need for planning as a key to lasting success.....and then EXECUTE THE PLAN.

Then I found a thread on another forum with some great advice on avoiding regain...I will post a link to it later in the day.

Today is church, then some kind of exercise. I want to mske some chicken chili in the crock pot, and then want to start a new book this afternoon. Tonight is the first in our local summer concert series, and I may go to that - just me and the dog, since Mike is away for a work commitment for a few days. Taking Holly is always a dicey proposition because she is another one of those rescued dogs that csn react to other dogs....you just never know how she will be.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Good mornin ya'll.
This morning I didn't get my treadmill time in. I woke up with a horrendous headache. Maybe too much sun yesterday. Yesterday our son and DIL had the first official BBQ of the season. Sort of celebrating her birthday that was Thursday. The pool was open, so the kids all had a great time! Our grandson's new dog has got to get used to new people. She is such a wuss. She sticks her head out from under the picnic table and barks, then runs if anyone new approaches her. She has to learn to be sociable! It was a scorcher!
Our granddaughter called to request corn on the cob and a big crockpot full of chili when they come next Sunday. They are flying into RDU, 2 hours away. I much prefer they fly into J-ville. But they can get non stop from PDX to RDU and they take the red eye so they can sleep.
Eeyore is in pieces still. I have the muzzle and face, 2 ears, 2 arms, his tail and half a leg done. It is all very tight single crochet and slip stitching and you have to stuff as you go. I know I won't have an uninterrupted day today, but we'll see what can be completed.
Well, I better get the bacon on. I'm not sure how late the BBQ went yesterday but I want to be BLT ready by 8:30.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!!

Morning all. Sober 215 days and so proud of me.
All dressed for Mass....love this little black Tee shirt style knee length dress with beading and crystals on sleeves that I got at Newport News. It is so comfy and I always get great comments on it. It is hot here already, but hot in many places. Abundant sunshine due.
Had a great day yesterday, spent good time at pool and hot tub, had 2 hrs floating in cool pool and reading. People can't believe I can keep my book dry, I just tell them I haven't lost a book since November.
Hubby back from Yoda walk. This little guy is such a love....kisses, rubs, snuggles so sweet. His haircut looks good and feels good on him. We have been freezing water bottles for his water bowl and we plop the frozen bottle in his bowl so he has really cold water all day.
Our son, Angus, is off on camping trip with roommates in Montana. Hope he is having fun and tight fishing lines. His dog, 1 yr old boxer, Mr.Bolo making great strides in new home in MT. Angus sounds happy and his roommate's are really wonderful. His job is good and the manager is making a video of Angus cutting meat to use as a teaching tool for the rest of the staff. He is getting 37 hrs of work and benefits. Also lots of FB messages from VT friends. Daughter Sara and family off at the RI beaches for a Birthday weekend. Their blended growing family doing well and look great. Her Paul got home from CA after a month for advanced army training. He just got promoted to Warrant Officer. Wondering if another deployment to Iraq is possible in near future. New baby to arrive in October. Sara looks sooooo prego. Jess, the middle devil child, doing well too. Her hubby is from Turkey and he and some of his soccer team mates got caught up in the crazy excitement of the tornadoes last Wednesday in Springfield area. But they are all OK. Jess says the damages are so sad too see.  WE still don't know about Gkids coming down for a visit here. They have school until June 16th, then swim camp at UMass. Both Emma and Alex are on traveling Y and local town teams.
Hope you all have a great Sunday. Be safe and happy.
Hugs, Monica and the Black Traveling Bra

Monica, I didn't realize that you were a "boxer grandma"! Our Holly is a boxer - what an amazing breed they are! We got her from the rescue. She had been a stray and was so emaciated that she fit through our cat door into the basement. Needless to say she has filled out in the last 4 1/2 years.

And let's hope that our guys don't have to face deployment again. Matt is hoping to get to his military retirement before they could take him again with the Guard. The Vermont Guard is supposedly on a 4 year cycle for deployment, which will just get him in under the wire.

Morning OFF-

My morning started with scratching sounds on the porch.  Sylvester jumped up on the window above my bed and his tail was switching.  That darned red squirrel had chewed through the screening again!  Definately going to have to get serious about this creature!

My day will be planting flowers in flower pots provided the black flies let me alone and doing the crossword puzzles.  I have to pedal on the pedaler a bit as well to keep the exercise going.

Tomorrow is my last appointment with the Nutritionist.  I'll have to weigh in and I'm feeling like I've lost something as the clothes are looser.  I've been on a roller coaster emotionally about the surgery.  Sometimes I think I can do this without surgery but I know in my heart that I need the WLS tool to get rid of this weight.    Later this week I will drive down to NH to see my PCP and have a long talk with him about the surgery.  I been seeing him for 16+ years so I know that he'll give me frank advise and discussion.

I've started knitting my first pair of socks with a heal.  I've also got a pattern for knitting a pair of clogs to felt.  I'm planning on cold feet for this winter in Texas.  I 've also go a quilt to make for a friend who will be retiring this fall.  Just haven't felt the quilting juices lately.

Well that's all from the chilly north.  I'm sitting at my computer in my sweat shirt and typing with very cold fingers.  Have a great Sunday folks!

Good morning, OFF friends,

Had a good and productive day yesterday.  I worked out with my trainer 1st thing.  It was so cool and beautiful, we did our workout outdoors.  She works at a country club, so outdoors means looking over the golf course and lake.  It was beautiful.  I had to go out to my car to get my cell phone to take a picture to post on facebook.

Then I drove out to the new 24 hour fitness.  I belong to one that is closer to me, but it is closing.  The new one is very fancy, but the part I was looking at was the fact that they have a water aerobics class.  I wanted to make sure that the participants were not just young hardbodies and that people would not gasp in horror at me showing up in a bathing suit.  The teacher assured me that there are all ages and sizes so I think I may give it a whirl.

Then I got my car washed  and got my nails done, not at the same place.   Then I treated myself to a movie.  I saw Bridemaids.  It is hilarious.  Very raunchy in a female raunchy kind of way. Sweet in some ways, but laugh out loud funny in others.  If you don't offend easily, I highly recommend it.

Today will be a more mundane day.  Laundry and taking it easy

                                        Have a great day,

                                                                         Sharon

Now that would be an all-purpose one stop, car wash, nails, hair, with men dancing in black leather chaps and speedo's, fan's over each client.....OH getting too away with my thoughts.
