Another new post-op here...
Dear Mona,
Sounds like you have a great attitude and did the right thing by removing your scale. Measure yourself instead and take pictures. Your weight will fall off in time. Your body is recovering from surgery. Just be sure to sip, sip and sip! Take walks and rest. Welcome to the forum, you will find love and support here. Hugs Debbiejean

Mona ~ You'll be fine.
Yep, I too found it tough the first few days to get anything in (my surgery was on 05/24/11), but drink when you can. My first day home, I only drank 20 oz of water, which did iclude some Isopure, and ate jello. Each day will get easier.
Like you, I was afraid of drinking too much too quickly. Heck, my first few sips weren't enough to drown an ant. You'll learn how much you can put in your mouth without a "gulp" feeling when swallowing. Also, listen to your pouch. It will tell you when the sip was too much.
My NUT had suggested using a baby cup and baby spoons. Only yesterday did I try these (had them around the entire time) and they really do work. The sippy cup limits what goes in and the spoon is wonderful. Sure it takes longer to eat, but I also feel fuller.
Each day, the fluids are increasing. Don't forget things like Crystal Light, flavored waters, hot decaf tea, etc. can also be counted towards your liquid intake.

Wow, what a warm and welcoming group of people. I have taken your advise and jotted down my measurements and started a journal. I managed to finally get in my required intake of fluids for the first time also. To Vicki P. whom asked what type surgery I had, I had the RNY; it has been one week today!
I did wake early this morning with lots of nausea. I drank decaf coffee but still feel full/bloated and nauseous. Hopefully it will pass soon.
Thank you all again for being so kind and welcoming to me. It truly helps.
