tuesday morning
While in St. Augustine 5 years ago found a Speedo shop going out of business. Got 3 suits and a Speedo waterproof watch, and suit for hubby for $13. These suits look and feel as good as the day I got them. Other suits have faded, snagged, pulled, stretched, and fallen apart. I learned not to wash them or hang them in the sun to dry. My Gkids are on special swim teams and I can't believe how much our daughter has to pay for the team suits. She's the one who told us about not washing the suits, but rinsing them out well and often.
Sober 210 days and so proud of me.
I was so sick yesterday, I was really worried, dizzy, face swollen on one side, sinus stuff, no pain but totally funky. Woke up this AM with no spinning room and thankful. Hot already, but we shut off the AC and are letting the place air out.
I had a really hard time walking Yoda over full campground weekend. He was OK with hubby, but horrid with me. Barked at every dog he saw, lunging and growling. Also barked at bike riders. Very different from his usual gentle walks with me.
Very poor today, will be solvent tomorrow. Really hate the end of the month, especially after a month like May has been. We need to be less generous with our kids and better to ourselves, but we make our own bed. Son, Angus, is in MT, settled and working and fishing.
Hope all are well. so grateful for YOU all. Love seeing new people here.
Hugs, Monica
Had a wonderful weekend with kids here. The boys put up a new fence for our dogs, DH & daughter moved the steps on our deck & DIL moved a small fence under our deck. I pretty much cooked & kept the grands busy.
Took my daughter for her first full body massage. It was her birthday present from Dec., but his is the first time they have been up here since Christmas. She loved it!
Nothing going on today, payday tomorrow so will shop then. I am a not a shopper, so we only go about twice a month.
Hot here today, but I love it. Have a wonderful day all!!
Nan
Jacki, good to see your post, so when are we getting together?
Trish, congrats on the job, Monic congrats on yet another sober day. . . Grammylew, I love how connected you are to your family and hope that your grandson is just going through the normal teenage angst and comes out on top of it all, with his parents championing him, he hopefully will do well and it's good that he sounds interested in the Military Academy.
The long weekend was wonderful, saw Tony on Saturday, Sunday drove up to New York to my goddaughter's graduation celebration and at a really nice seafood restaurant in Port Washington, which was 5 minutes from a good friend of mine's who I have not seen in 3 years, we talk, but since generally I go up to see my brother or some such thing, I don't usually get to see her, so spent an hour and a half together, she made me laugh, because she called me skinny, which is sooooooo far from where I'm at, but as opposed to last time she saw me, which was just 3 months post-op, I'm thinner, after visiting with her I headed back to NJ and stopped to see another friend of mine who lives in Fort Lee which is right over the George Washington Bridge, haven't see her in some time either, but I figured since I was up north and people were available and since I was not in a big rush home, I made the best of the trip seeing who I could along the way, got home around 11:30 Saturday night, stayed up with Roxie for a little while and then went to bed, got up early, ran some errands, did some food prep, cleaned house, went to a noon AA meeting, after which they had some hoagies and fellowship time, then went to check out the new dog park to see what it is like, very nice, but just like the other dog park I go to, no shade, what's up with that, can't take dogs to a playground in the full heat of summer with no trees ;( Anyway, after that I went home, roasted some garlic for some fresh spinach I cooked with a tiny bit of butter and white cooking wine, grilled steak on the bbq and then packed my food and clothes so I could get up and go to the gym in the morning, which is why I turned off the televison at 10 and woke up this morning at 4:55, put on the gym clothes, grabbed my stuff and off to the gym I went. Here I am at work today, this evening is a house AA meeting and then home where I am sure to collapse exhausted from the early start to my day, but I am feeling good to be working out again, even if it is still not something I'm loving.
Well that is my long story of the weekend. . .
Wishing you all the best day possible, peace and strength to those in need.
Hugs, Laureen

Morning Jacki and OFF family!!
Well its going to be another hot one here in Ohio today and supposed to break the record they say...then some nasty storms posssible tonight and then cooler temps again for tomorrow.
Counting down to VACATION!!!! YIPPPEEEEE!!!!!!!!! We are so looking forward to this vacation and getting away...especially from his mother...omg what a woman!!! And her drama!! Yikes!!!! I feel so bad for Rick at times but he brings it on himself sometimes....
Working today 1-9 and not looking forward to that at all. Back is already starting to hurt just sitting here this morning. Pain meds not helping at all most of the time. Not sure why. I know its arthritis that is making the back hurt.
Had a nice holiday ALONE with Rick :-) and we cooked the ribs and they were very good! Laid outside in the sun for awhile but it was to hot to be out there for long. I did lay on my lounge chair and wondered how I was going to get up from it...lol but I did it all by myself!!! Alot of people went to the pool to cool off but tha****er is way to cold for my old bones to get in it!! Its 72* and for me that is to cold...BRRRRRR
Well I think I rattled on long enough so will get going. Thoughts and prayers for those that need them.
HUGS
I made good progress on my little Winnie-the-Pooh quilt yesterday. This is only the second quilt I've made. The first quilt was for my daughter when we were sewing up Benny's nursery. I cut and pieced it from the scraps left over from all the nursery things I was making. It was quite a job for a novice quilter like me. I did it all on the machine and it turned out all right. Not perfect, but perfectly serviceable.
But this little quilt is made from pre-printed panel and it has been so easy! After a few false starts yesterday (my machine is still new to me and I couldn't quite remember how the machine quilting feature worked), I just zipped along. Today I have just a bit more quilting to do, and then I have just have to sew on the binding and I'm done!
Also, for my gardening pals: have you ever grown black beans before? I had hubby plant me a row this year. Did you know the hulls turn a lovely purple color when the beans are ripe? Who knew? I picked my first batch of them last night. Have to try and shell them tonight.
I plan to leave for an extended stay at the lakehouse on Thursday or Friday. Just have to hang around here long enough to pay bills on the first and hopefully finish up what I can with the garden. Hate to see fresh produce go to waste, but my birthday is this Saturday and I want to spend it in San Antonio with my kids.
Well, I'd better scoot! Lots to do this morning!
Love you all!
