What New on a Sleepy Sunday?

Sober 208 days and so proud of me.
Too tired to move this morning. Stayed up too late. But slept all night soundly.
Yoda & hubby on walk. Many campers in for the weekend. My walk with Yoda yesterday difficult. He didn't want to listen to me at all.
We had good cribbage games and snuggle time with the Yoda. Will keep a low profile I think.
Hot and humid on the forecast, we need rain.
Having too much fun on some FB games. Farmsville is scary, but I am trying. Love the free slots.
Put up a post there about how without the USO there would not be 3 Great Gkids on hubby's side of family....didn't know it was a poem until this AM when I read it again.
Most of you sound really good, centered, and finding the wkend going well. What fun to have a 4 pager yesterday.
I have the Traveling Bra on...even if it takes me just to bed, it does make me feel good.
Remembering those who have given us our freedom. Rolling Thunder looks awesome in DC. Friends there in person...camping and honoring and networking.
Hugs and love for all who come here and sustain each of us in our continued journey.

Hi Monica,
I am right there with you on the being tired side of things.  I fell asleep around 1:00 a.m. and woke up really early.  I realized I was too tired to sit in church, because I knew I would fall asleep in my chair there.  I did get some bargains at Joann Fabrics, tons of stuff was marked 50% off, and then I had the 10% off coupon for the entire order.  Got two pieces of cute fabric for shorts coveralls for my grandson to wear.  Also got some more plastic containers, both on sale and then marked down with the coupon.  I was going to cut the fabric when I got home, but my pinched nerve starting bothering me.

Stay cool.

Hugs,
Trish

Good mornin' ya'll.
Monica, still so proud of you.
Humid already here. Gonna stay in again and let the AC keep us comfy.
This 'puppy' of our grandson's is the funniest. Last night she jumped at my french door, the curtains came down and she must have gotten tangled in them. Sounded like she was on the losing end of a dog fight. She 'talks'. Like that 'I love my bank' commercial. If you tell her to sit or lie down, she does it, but complains about it all the way down. If you give all of them a pig ear, she gobbles her's up and would love to eat everyone elses. The beagle is old and slow but very territorial with his treats. So Libby lays 3 feet away from the beagle and 'talks' to him. If she crawls too close Desi gives her a growl and a nip, then Libby backs up and talks some more. So very
funny!!
Our granddaughter is still pleading her case to go on her 8th grade overnight trip. She has mono and should not be contagious by Tues. the day of the trip. But her fever goes down, she feels great for 3 or 4 hours and it comes back and she is worn out and achy even if she did nothing but go up and down stairs a couple of times. The doc said no exercise or strenuous activity. She swears she will just sit and take it easy if she is allowed to go. It's too bad tomorrow
is a holiday. Our daughter would have a day to discuss this with the doc AND the school. Poor baby. Her life will be over if she can't go!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Grammylew,
My landlady told me her puppy, part lab and part something else, broke her leg trying to jump onto their bed Friday.  Poor thing.  She scampered around the yard when I had my dog out for a walk,My  and then ran into their apartment, downstairs from me, and tried to jump onto their bed and fell funny.  Has to have a cast on.  She is about 3-4 months old.  They just got her in April.

My dog is very territorial with his treats and toys when I visit my sister.  She has two dogs, which are smaller than mine, and they are less active than mine.  My dog could play fetch in her backyard all day if someone were willing to throw the ball for him.  Her dog just stands there and looks at us like we are the entertainment committee.

Sorry about your granddaughter's mono.  I had it in high school, and it wiped me out for over a month.  I couldn't even take gym for several marking periods once school started.  I will pray for her.

Hugs,
Trish

Oh the drama in our Gkids lives brings such memories alive. I had mono in the '60s. It was the NEW the disease then. At first so hard to diagnosis. I was destined to become a Medical Technologist back then. Worked as a Candy Stripper at a local hospital and the first time I walked into the hospital Lab, I feel in love with the whole thing. Geared my college search for a school to give me the BS to get me the job. Really feel in love with job and excelled in my finding a position that gave me great days I wanted. I watched in wonder as the "new" tests were developed in the '60 that brought us easier diagnosis skills. After moving to a small town and becoming a mom, finding other lab positions were difficult. When a doctor came to town, she heard that I was a med tech and asked me to join her. I did, but my med tech skill were gradually not needed...too much "red tape" from government oversite to do testing in the office of a single doctor, so I changed course and became involved with administrative duties. Eventually I arrived at VA and found my life's work. Wish I had found it earlier, but grateful each day for the work I did helping veterans and their family's.
Hope your Gdaughter can come to grips with the mono and the why she can't go on such an important school trip. Disappointments come at us from all angles and ages.
Love the dog tails, the furbabies can make for good laughter, thanks for sharing.

OMG Monica, did you strip the wrappers off of candy for patients or did you strip your clothes off????
what type of uniform does a candy stripper wear??? a much shorter version of the traditional red and white stripes?????

seriously i know you meant candy striper ....i'm sorry---just could NOT let this spelling error/typo get by!!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I purposely left the spelling in place to see if it got caught, ha ha. Being the nice Catholic girl of the '60, I could never BE bad, especially after all the problems my older sister caused my parents.
This site is just too much fun.

Morning everyone!

Trish, all your talk of sewing is inspiring me today.  I might finish up a couple of sewing projects that I started pre-surgery and have never gotten back to.  I do love to sew.

Mainly I just wanted to post this morning because I've finally done it!  I've lost MORE than 50 lbs!  Oh happy day!  I've been waiting for this milestone to arrive.  Now my goal is to get under 220 before my husband comes home in 2 weeks.  That's 4 more pounds.  Do you think I can do it?

Got to get out there and finish up my mowing this morning.  Prolly got another hour left on the mower, but then I'll be done.  Then I plan to stay in the cool AC for the rest of the day.  Maybe in my sewing room!  I'm working on a Winnie-the-Pooh quilt for my crib at the lakehouse.

Oh, and another milestone happened yesterday.  I can finally get my wedding rings on and off again.  They haven't been off my finger in several years now. I want to get them all cleaned and sparkly again!

Trish, I'm happy for you about your decision.  Sounds like your daughter is considering moving back to YOU.  However it works out, and I know it will work out for the best, you will be able to see your munchkins more often.  That will be wonderful for you all.

Happy Sunday to everyone!

Yeah Vickie, you ROCK women. How is the shoulder? Please be careful to let it heal more! Repeative movements really rub the bursa the wrong way. I worked at an outpatient clinic near the main centers (Scenters) of Yankee Candle in So.Deerfield MA. Our office staff and admin (me) we asked to review the various job positions and tasks for advice to help with on the job injury's. Amazing how pro-active Yankee Candle wanted to be for their people. Seeing how often the staff repeated the same hand, shoulder, lift motions opened everyones eyes and helped to formulate changes.
You have come so far so fast. I remember the agony just before Easter when you walked into Target and saw all the goodies. You resisted, you are a winner. Continued success.

Morning Trish and my OFF friends,

It's 11:59 so I can still say "morning", but I'll have to close with "good afternoon"...LOL

Gary and I just got back from walking 5 miles down by the river. I know he'd rather be running, but since I can't do that, I appreciate him walking with me. I'm determined to get my distance up enough to walk that 1/2 marathon in November. Right now, not feeling it, but I know it's just cause I'm tired. I'll go hit the shower and be just fine.

Kids are coming for dinner and probably a movie on Pay Per View. Sounds like a perfect day to me!

I'm so glad to see all the new faces here, sometimes us Old Timers need to be reminded where we've come from to be at this point in our journies. Thanks to all!

Okay, hope all of you have a good afternoon. Take care of yourselves and each other!!!

Susan
