What New on a Sleepy Sunday?

Good Morning Family,
I have been up since 5:30, walked Utley, washed the dishes, and have my second load of laundry in the washer.  I am trying to stay awake to go to church and Joanns to buy some fabric.  I also want to hit the gym for a swim, before I come home to watch the Phillies game.

I started two sewing projects last night.  Cut out two different dress patterns for my granddaughter.  My granddaughter's birthday is in two weeks, and my daughter is coming home the following weekend and having a joint birthday party for both my grandchildren that weekend.

Hope everyone has a safe day.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish and all to follow,

This is a new day. I should still be asleep. My cat has wanted Ellen and I both up today. Love that Bela boy but wish he would learn to sleep through the night. She (Ellen) is to go out to breakfast so there is no sense in her going back to bed.
Ellen and I are going to catch a movie this afternoon. I'm not sure which one yet.
It's absolutely beautiful weather this AM. Wi**** would be this way all day. Friends think I'm crazy for living in Arizona since I'm not thrilled with the heat. I would lose my shirt I sold the house in this economic decline. So I'm here for a while longer.
The good news is Ford gave me $ 136.00 off my car repairs and I just found out I getting a tax refund of $900.00. That will pay almost all the charges I put on the credit card for the repairs!!!!! I'm so happy. The stress is off me for now.
Having some head hunger this AM but think it is just lack of sleep.
Take care and have a wonderful and peaceful Sunday.    Mag

Hi Mag,
My dog wakes me up when I sleep late, but lately, I have been up before him.  He sleeps later than me now, and then we take our walk down to the river, before the heat of the day.  He loves that walk.

Congrats on the tax refund.  My tax refund helped me get some techie stuff I wanted, like an HD television and a Garmin for travel.

Stay cool.

Hugs,
Trish

Good Morning OFF Friends

Working today. Working on a resort island means weekends are mandatory. But thats ok, got my capris and flip flops on. Drives my boss crazy when we walk around the office barefoot, but he hates the sound of the flops  He's a great guy and we have him well trained. Stopped at Dunkin Donuts on my way to work. Got the flatbread eggwhite sandwich and Lite iced latte. Feel like I splurged without being horrid. The flatbread was a bit much and I ended up throwing most of the bread out. I'm pre-op but trying to working on making more positive choices now. The office is a-buzz with activity. Love having my friends around. I can honestly say I love my job and my co-workers. They are like sisters to me.

The sun is heating things up, the birds are flying over dropping stuff on my van, and the tourists are clogging up the roads and tapping their brakes. SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!

Good for you for starting to make the changes now.  That helped me tremendously in adjusting to the post-op lifestyle changes.

Are you on the Outer Banks?  I fell in love with them when my son and his wife performed in The Lost Colony on Roanoke Island years ago.  She was the lead in the show.

Have a good day.

Hugs,
Trish

I'm on the southern most island of the chain of Outer Banks called Bogue Banks. There are 5 small towns along the island. Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores (NC Aquarium located there), Salter Path, Indian Beach, and Emerald Isle. We manage over 800 rental properties along the island, anything from studio-size condos to 8 & 10 bedroom houses.

I had been to Nags Head and that area years ago (1980) when I drove my mother & her 2 friends to see The Lost Colony. Wonderful performance! The 3 of them had front row seats and I sat on the "50 yard line" in the second tier. I actually had a better view and saw more of the show because so much goes on in the audience. I would LOVE to see it again and take my grandkids. We also visited the Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island.

Did your son and DIL continue acting?

Oh, your island sounds lovely.  I only got as far down as the island with the coast guard station at the southern tip.

My son is now with Nielsen Corporation, with his office in Manhattan, but constant trips to Tampa.  My daughter-in-law has performed Off-Broadway, and is now in the National Tour of Les Miserables, since Christmas.  She is in the ensemble, and is the understudy for Fantine, the female lead.  She will probably be leaving the tour in the Fall, though it is continuing for a total of three years before returning to Broadway.  The tour is the 25th anniversary celebration before it returns to New York.  She is hoping that this tour opens the door to a Broadway spot.

Yes, when one goes to see Lost Colony, it is best to see in the middle, on the second level, because of all that goes on along the sides.  Fortunately, my son warned me of that when I went.  Of course, I saw it two nights in a row, and we had a rain delay one of the evenings.  It was an adventure, which I will remember fondly.

Thanks for the memories.

Hugs,
Trish

a portion of my family (Davis, also Quakers) is from Davis Island ....and one of them married a Bogue.
just curious....

Interesting, Margo. I've never heard of Stephen Bogue, but now I'm curious and will do some local research. I've always been fascinated with our local history and want to grasp onto any morsel I can get.

I must say that I do love it here. I was born at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, lived 13 years in California and left on a Greyhound bus when I was 15 & 1/2. I moved back to NC. My 2nd ex (lol) was from MN.  We moved up there after he got out of the Marine Corps. Again, a beautiful place, but couldn't wait to get back to the coast. I love the smell of salt air and the sand between my toes.

I am now living on the piece of land that I always wanted. My Hunny was born here and has lived on this spot of land since he was 3 yrs old. With the exception of the 21 yrs in the Navy.

No matter where you're from, there's no place like home

Im not sure which Bogue would have been the "father" of the family- there were several generations of Stephens and one of them was a very prominent abolitionist in the Kentucky Raid in Michigan in the 1800s....

i guess my thought is that Davis island is named after the davis family so bogue island...well..ya know!

i hope someday to visit your area and do some genealoy but i'll bet it's beautiful!!!!
