What I learned during my 'prep'

This is my second day of clear liquids and miralax. I hope I never have to do this again but I can if I have to.
But just because we were restricted didn't mean the rest of the family had to be. While fixing breakfasts, lunches and snacks I finally realized how much I have 'cheated'. All of the tastes, bites, sips, licks and nibbles I had gotten back into doing since my band was unfilled the first time 18 months ago. Since then, I have gained back some pounds, been filled and unfilled countless times, gotten back into mindless eating, and cheating on my diet, but really only cheating myself!
Now that I absolutely can not cheat I am realizing how much I had gotten back into these very bad habits. In the last couple of months I have gotten back into a regular treadmill routine, but I was still letting that hand bring crap to my mouth that had no business being there. And all those tiny bites add up to too many pounds!
For the first 18 months after being banded I lost 125 pounds and thought I had wrangled all those bad habits into submission. How quickly I went back.

I always remember from WW...A minute on the lip, a lifetime on the hip. Tasting or cruising is a danger for us all. Best of luck to you two. Prayers for DIL and son.

Hugs grammylew, sounds like you are now back on track. All those little bites and snacking do add up. It's all about calories in and calories out and exercising.
Kick those nasty old habits back to the curb!
You have a tool and you are using it. Go girl...you can get those extra pounds back off in time. It's not a race. Slow is good. Exercise is great and you have the recipe to do it! Hugs Debbie

Grammylew,

I hear you and I think it goes back to the "habits" of a lifetime and as Debbie's post daily reads. . .  Mindful Eating.  Because we are creatures of habit, we must be present for each and every bite we take because as you realized and I have by logging my food more consistently once again, there are an awful lot of calories in those bites here and there through the course of a day. . .

What a positive realization out of a need to take care of the more mundane things of life. . .

Hope your test goes quick and results come back good!

Hugs, L
