Morning Pat and all the rest of US wonderful losers!!
Sober 191 days and proud of me. Feeling better today, grateful that the crud I had is gone.
HOT, HUMID, FLORIDA here today. Hope we get some rain, needed badly, especially on east coast, very dry there and strong Red Flag warnings abound.
Adding another issue to my Daily Dialogs calls to White House and Congress...boarder safety, my list grows...makes me feel good to make the calls.
Hope all have a good one, special prayers to those in need. Would love to hear from Bev in CT.

Good morning Pat. I hope you are doing well.
Well, my son left New Jersey today for the middle east.  He sounded good last night when we talked to him.

Please pray for a safe return for all our military to come home soon & safe. Also for the all the people who work over there. I will be in a depression for a time.

Dh had his Drs. appt. this week & all is good. Thank God for that.

Also thank you Phyllis & Jon for a wonderful few days. And of course the girls, Maddie & Greta!! Our babies sure do miss them!

Everyone have a wonderful day & be greatful for all your blessings!

Prayers to you and yours and all our Armed Forces. Can we send him cards and goodies? I think I would like to do this. We don't have much, but we are blessed and this will make us feel good. Think about this and let us know. When I was still working at the VA, I was part of a VA outreach group that put together "care packages". Knowing what is considered GOLD to receive by the troops makes the giving even more special. I remember hand wipes was a WANTED item, socks, chap stick, and sunscreen. Sample packages were right size for transport there and while incountry. USPS has great if it fits it ships specials. Thanks Nan. Do you keep a daily diary? I know writing things down here for sharing helps me find a comfort, pride, central point in my day and lifts my moods with the support I get!!

Monica, when he gets there I will send an address. He gave us one, but all 3 of the times he's been there before the address has changed within a week. Thank you so much, I know you know what we are going thru. Along with Caroline & anyone else that has a child deployed.

Good mornin' ya'll.
Pat, hope you can keep that incision from being a bigger problem.
Monica, still so proud of you. I also hope you are feeling a lot better.
Nan, I know the worry of a loved one deployed into harm's way. I will keep him in our prayers, too.
Besides our DIL's neurology appt yesterday, our son had MRI's for his back. Of course, the tech gives no feedback, he has to wait to see his doc. But we are pretty sure this is gonna require surgery. He also needs surgery on his left hand again. AND, either a new rotator cuff or an entire new left shoulder. He wants to get all these things taken care of before it is time for him to retire. AND, have it done here. The Marines want to transfer him to Yuma next January and he doesn't want to go, and is considering retirement instead. He will have 27 years in by then.
A few errands to run today. Nice weather is forecast. I have already fed the older grandson. He had his final final this morning, has his belly full and is taking a nap. My DH is also napping in his chair. The snoring is louder than the TV!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Can your local and federal congressional staff help in keeping him in his area? They sure helped hubby when he was a short timer, although your son is not a short timer. 27 years is alot to give to our country! Is he ready to retire? Or is he being "pushed" into it. Are his surgeries service connected from accidents while serving? Making sure all the documentation will assist in VA benefits and compensation after he is retired. Changes in retirement and VA benefits have changed for the better and need to be investigated. Best of luck to him!

Thanks, Monica. I know you and your DH have dealt with all of this and I value your advice.
Our son and our DIL are OK with retirement if that is what it must be. No he isn't being pushed. And all of his medical problems are duty related and well documented. He has copies of all the documentation in case something happens to get lost in his medical records!!
If he is not deployable, or can't do his PFT's the Marines will tell him good bye!
He has a consultant job waiting for him in a new company started by a guy he spent many years stationed with. And his retirement pay will still be very nice with 27 years.

Good morning y'all!

Not much news to report here today.  I'm busy being a farm wife this week.  Putting up produce from the garden.  Yesterday I did broccoli and carrots.  Today is SQUASH day!  Wow, I wish I could send some of this to y'all.  There's so much!  More than I could possibly eat all by myself this month.  Got to can it or freeze it.

I know many of you are dog lovers, so I wanted to share some absolutely SHOCKING information I learned yesterday about most commercial dog foods.  Here's the web site:  www.dogfoodanalysis.com.  Turns out that most, if not all, of the food I've been feeding my little ratties the past four years is pure crap.  I will never ever feed Purina, Iams or Beneful again!  On a scale of 1- to 6-stars, all of these major brands are a 1-star food.

One of the reasons that our pets in America only live 10 to 12 years is because of the poor nutrition they receive from the major brands of dog food.  We think we are feeding them good food, when in fact, it is terrible.  Don't be taken in by the TV commercials.  Those companies are making huge profits by turning out poor quality food and charging BIG prices for it!

In fact, this afternoon, I'm going to make the drive to another town to shop at PetSmart for some of the 5- and 6-star dry dog foods.  If I can find one that they will eat, and that I can afford, I'm going to sign up for a service that will deliver the dog food right to my front door once a month.  Here's that site:  www.petflow.com.  I don't want to order 25 lbs of food before I know if they will eat it or not, but I can't make the drive to Lufkin every week either.  Only $4.95 for delivery, and it certainly takes me more than one gallon of gas to make the drive to PetSmart.  Sounds like a good deal.

Grammy, I'm glad the doctor was able to help your sweet DIL.  I walked on my treadmill 2 miles yesterday.  Going to try to do it again today.

Monica, way to go, girl!  You're pushing the 200 day mark.  SO proud of you!  Have you ever experienced summer in the south before?  The heat and humidity and bugs are just starting!!! LOL!  Just wait til the love bugs come out.  Ugh!  Drive me crazy each year.

Pat, hope you can keep improving daily!

Connie, I don't know all the back story, but I know Nic is special young man and a survivor!  Congratulations!

Nan, prayers for your son and his safe return.

I think that's everyone so far.  You all have a great day!
