Home after petsitting

Hi everyone.
I don't know the last time I've been so happy to see my home and sleep in my own bed.  It's so wonderful. You would think that 3 days away would be quick and easy. It was not.
There were 5 animals. 3 dogs and 2 cats. Now I have had 3 dogs of my own at the same time, but never felt so overwhelmed.
All 5 were rescue animals which is good, but sooo neurotic. The male was very anxious and would run in circles. He also never got enough to eat so I would have to stand guard to make sure he didn't eat Fiona's food.  Little Holly will not eat until I put her food bowl in her crate. Then I had to back away until she would enter. (all the while keeping Regal from her food.) Once Holly went into the crate she would not eat until I locked the crate and went away
Did I mention that Regal loves to chewing on things. Nothing can be left out. He jumps up on counters, tables, etc. If I was sitting down Fiona had to be in my lap ALL the time. Then I would get 1 or 2 more dogs. The most "fun" was when the cat, Raleigh, insisted on joining us.
Little Dolly (2nd cat) would hide all day until the dogs went to bed at 7:30. Poor little girl never got much attention. I was worried about her getting enough to eat and drink.
Their Mom wants me to watch them for 11 days in July. Oh, my goodness. I don't know if I can do that.

Thanks for listening.     Mag

Mags...welcome home!!  Wow, I was overwhelmed for you when reading your post.  I love animals so much but don't think I could have handled being the sitter for those babies.  I have 2 and they keep me busy.  I've even told my husband that when anything happens to our 2 furbabies, NO MORE.  He just gives me a look and says "ok honey, whatever you say" because he knows me all too well.  I melt at the thought of furbabies.  Anyway, I'm glad you survived your petsitting and know that those precious little animals had the bes****ching over them.

Make sure you rest up and take care of yourself now that you're home.  Hope you had a nice Mother's Day.

I can understand what you went through ... a couple of years ago, I dog-sat for seven (yes, I wrote 7) dogs, all shelter rescues, for friends in Lubbock, Texas, while the guy went to the Mayo Clinic for stem cell transfers for stage 4 Hodgkins. (Unfortunately, the stem cells didn't work and he died last year in January ... he was my brother's best friend.)

Now, I'm a cat person but grew up with a dog and I like dogs, but found out that I'm allergic to them. And these dogs all were used to sleeping with their owner (in this case, the woman of the house). So the seven dogs would pile in the bed with me ... they were all small dogs, the biggest was a Jack Russell terrier mix, the smallest a psycho Chihuahua. The couple paid for my airfare, gave me their car to drive and money to spend for food and fun while I was in Lubbock (not a whole lot there, but there is the Buddy Holly museum). Well, these dogs took over the king-sized bed at night and I hardly had any room ... plus, they would wake me up to go outside ... if I didn't respond, there would be wet spots or poop on the floor. Even if I did take them out, there would be accidents. The biggest dog liked to bully the others, they all had special diets, I had to crate them when I left and wipe their butts and paws after they went in the yard to poop or pee. It was a real job. I was so glad to be back with my kitties who didn't need so much attention.

Oh and yeah, I had to watch them eat, too, to make sure one didn't eat the other's food (because of the special diets and because they tended to gobble to get more food).
