Saturday, May 7th What's New?
Hi Karen and all my OFF friends,
Sorry I haven't been checking in. Chemo has made me so tired that I save my energy for other things. Today I actually got a lot of things done. I raked all the leaves out of my flower garden. Cleaned all the old plant material out of all the window boxes. Cleared a gutter drain and put the metal grill back over it. Washed and dried a load of laundry. Went to the grocery store. Made twice baked potatoes for a Mother's Day Dinner at my sister's. Got to see my Mom.
Monica, so proud of you. Karen I would like to pick up a bump, but like Laureen I have to be there and leave on certain days.
Next week my sister graduates from college with an Associates in Business Administration. I am so proud of her. She is 52 and did one of those intensive 26 months of courses with only 2 weeks off per year. They are offered for working people so they are all night classes. They split the class into teams and they have to meet for four hours a week and do assignments together. We are going to her graduation and then a party after. I ordered a Pandora charm that is a dangling graduation cap to give her.
The next weekend I am going to join my 9 other maternal cousins for a girls weekend in the Berkshires of New York. We are staying in the same bed and breakfast that we stayed in when we started our yearly get togethers 10 years ago. A fun time, we usually stay in and cook for ourselves and catch up. We get there Friday. Saturday we go to a local attraction, this year it will be the Han**** Shaker Village. Then we find a place to go out for dinner. Sunday we usually go somewhere for lunch before we all head home. Can't wait to see them all.
Hubby is not too comfortable right now. He is waiting to pass a kidney stone which is painful. This is his fourth one so he knows what it is.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to get some annuals in the garden. And I should get a call from my son and the grandkids. I treasure those calls. We are hoping to go visit them in June.
Have a happy Mother's Day.
Hugs,
Bev

Bev, It's so good to hear from you. I bought some flowers today but it is still cool and windy so I'll hope for better weather tomorrow. I "rescued" some plants that were 50% off. Hope I can give them a new life in my perennial garden. I'll cut them back, plant them with some vitamin "booster" and hope for the best.
Looks like our weeping cherry is probably not going to make it. It's just 2 years old but was a beauty in March last year. Just a few puny leaves and no beautiful white blossoms this year. Mike's ready to put it out of its misery but I hate to give up on it.

Hi Karen,
50 % is great. Don't give up on the Cherry tree. Some years bushes and trees just need a rest. We have two Japanese Dogwoods that get fruit each year and we were worried last year because they produced nothing. The squirrels really depend on those fruits. I think we will try tree stakes this year to feed them.
I bought a pot full of red geraniums. We are going to the cemeteries today to plant them.
Happy Mother's Day.
