Good Morning Monica, Friends,

Each day of sobriety is a successful one and I am so happy to see you stringing them together as you have been for the past 175 days, you make my heart happy!!!  Hope your leg feels better in a hurry. . .

Thank goodness our dear Susan is ok and I feel sad about those facing losses, death, personal ones and the scars it can leave behind, prayers for all affected.

Work is not that busy, but that is ok, I can busy myself rather well. . .

I got a very nice gift for professional admin day, a book on training Rottweilers with a Petsmart gift card from the new associate I've been working with for the past 2 months, what a nice man and he has a rescued pitbull, so we talk dogs a lot and I am happy to have such a nice person to work for, after all that I endured with the others before him.  The magazine comes on time, as Foxie Roxie needs a little work with some of her "cuteness" as last night she grabbed Helen's hand when she stopped petting her and her tooth caught Helen in such a way as to break skin, now mind you it was not a biting incident, but I've told both roommates that she must be discouraged from getting mouthy, that when petting time is over, they must let her know that no means no.  I don't have that issue because she knows I won't tolerate it, but the roommates, well they are just so entralled with all her cuteness that they have laughed about it when she went to grab them and well last night was just what I expected might happen one day.  So now they get it and I felt badly, but we will all work on getting her to mind us.

Ok, well that is my day and I will just stick with it.

Have a good day, wishing peace and strength to those of you with life challenges.

Hugs, Laureen

Good Morning Monica,
175 is a great number! Good for you! Please tell Carla hi for me when you see her! I've actually slept with Carla :) ... Bet none of you can top THAT!
I posted separately about my Mom- that will be taking up a lot of my vacation I think. Today my dog Penny gets a "hysterectomy"... she's sitting here oblivious wondering why she hasn't been fed.  After that I'm meeting some girlfriends for breakfast and a "little" scrapbooking. Then I am going to the hospital at noonish to meet my brothers and sister-in-law to make some decisions with a social worker. I'm dreading that. Sigh...sometimes we have to just relax and accept. I'm trying.

Hi Monica and friends,
It's super that you are at 175 days. Keep taking care of our leg.

I awakened at 5:10 AM. Not good. I'm a night person. Trying to learn to get up earlier, but this ridiculous. Drinking protein shake. Will need a nap today for sure.

I had trouble eating and drinking yesterday, too. Only the 3rd time since surgery that I didn't make the proper amount. Only got 231 calories in. Still don't want to eat but will keep trying.

I've got some things to do today but nothing important.
Take care, Stay safe and warm.

Oh Mag, that is NOT enough food taken in!! Your body will not shed an ounce of fat without you feeding it too lose. Are you using a tracking tool, like FitDay.com? Are your carrying around a bottle of water with you even to the bathroom? Have you tried.....OMG Grazing instead of set meals. Can you handle shrimp???? I buy frozen jumbo shrimp already cooked and keep them in my freezer. I started this soon after WLS and could tolerate solid food well. While working I would take out 7-11 of these frozen shrimp (kept them in work room freezer even). Put them in a bowl w/ cold water, left them to defrost for @ 1/2 hr and ate them up. Sometimes it would take me an hour to munch them down. Little bites with little dips into ****tail sauce. ALL protein, few calories, and NO digestion distress.

Thanks Monica,
I was doing 3 small meals and 2 protein shakes a day and when I told my surgeon He said absolutely not. He believes in 3 meals a day w/ no snacks at all. It doesn't seem to work for me very well. Now I'm not sure what to do. I love shrimp and it's on my food plan. Thanks for the great idea. I also must admit that I keep water w/ me but when I get engrossed in something I forget to drink it. Must improve on that.
I'm feeling good Let me know what you think of the 3 meals only thing.   Mag

I don't want my suggestions to do you harm. I ain't an expert, just know what worked for me and I am 7 yrs post op. I have had my struggles indeed. But I say give it a try for 5 days and see if you can increase your calorie intake. You will need about 1500 calories a day with 90-120 grms of protein. Pursue the protein, watch the fats and carbs. Track your intake and your progress as to how you feel.

Dear Pat,

Just want to wish you good luck tomorrow.  I had laparoscopic cholecystectomy [gall bladder removal] in 2009 and it was day surgery.  I had it around 10-11 a.m. and my friend picked me up around 3 p.m. and I went to her house and took a nap.  Woke up around 8 and just drove myself home.  The biggest annoyance was that the surgeon claimed she could not use any of the incisions from my RnY the year before, so now I have 10 little tiny scars between my breast bone and belly button instead of just 5.  That should be the worst complaint!

We are really very lucky that the minimally invasive mode has replaced the full open incision.  I remember when relatives had this surgery and were in the hospital for 5 days.

Prayers and thoughts to you for tomorrow for an easy post-operative course and speedy recovery.
