OT: SUSAN HELP! Flat Irons

This may be a stupid topic to have on this forum, but I know that there is a variety of people here and i am hoping that someone can give me some advice.  Susan!!!!!!!  I just remembered what she does for a living.
I have very curly, very short hair  -  something like Monica's.  On the weekend my beautician  (ha, ha  -  I did that just for Susan) used a flat iron and straightened my hair.  I couldn't believe it.  It stayed straight for two days in spite of the humidity and the wind.  Now I have to purchase one to try and do this to my hair on my own.  Very scary.
Any suggestions for the brand of flat iron??  There are so many different ones and I am confused.  I need one that is very narrow because my hair is so short.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks.
Margaret
I'll try and post a picture later tonight for a while.  I still haven't come out about the surgery  -  I know, I know.

Well, Chi is the best one out there, but they are expensive. There are basically two different types...ceramic or metal. Ceramic plates create moist heat and are not damaging to the hair, where metal plates re dry heat and will really dry out the hair. Of course, the lesser priced irons are usually metal. Don't be fooled by an iron that says it's a Chi if it's under $100...lots of knock off and wanna be's out there!
If you have a regular stylist, ask her to recommend the size and maybe where you can get one. If you have a JC Penney in your area that has a salon, they carry Chi and often have sales.

Are you sorry you asked?

Not sorry at all.  I've searched for flat irons and have seen Chi on a few sites.
We don't have JC Penney in Canada, but there is a place nearby that sells flat irons wholesale and retail, so I will call them to ask about their prices.  They have Chi, and I had planned to call them today.
Thanks very much.

Hi Margaret,
I use a Chi too, but mine is not skinny like you want. The chi is the very best, and worth every penny.

did you say headful???? Now I am jealous.  I have straight, thin, fine hair.  got a good perm a few weeks ago and that helps some.
