Monica, speaking of writing your Congressman.
When my DH and I were getting married, he was stationed in FL and I lived in NY. He had his leave all set and it got cancelled, because of some crisis somewhere they thought they needed to send his ship to. I was so pi**ed! Everything was set! I wrote the President! I was only 18. I didn't tell Ray, but a few days later I got a call from him. The ship's CO had called him in to tell him, he didn't know what contacts Ray had but when the ship left he would be able to go on leave and they were giving him an extra week.
Whenever our son has been unhappy about any plans the Marines have screwed up, I ask if he wants me to write the President!
He begs me not to!

When I read hubby your post and the replies he asked me tell your son he would gladly take his place in a second. Your son and the others have given so much. And the families and friends at home give too everyday along side of them.

Oh Monica, thank you & your DH. You & Caroline both lived the military life. Does it get easier? I am just going into a depression, I know things will get better.

Nancy, we have a son in the military too. He is in the Guard and has had 2 deployments. His plan after returning from Afghanistan in December was that he would retire before he could be called up again, but in my heart of hearts I am worried about it because of how things have flared up in Libya. He is in our prayers!

I do know how you feel. My son was getting out a few years ago then his, at the time 3yr. old was diagnosed with cancer. She is doing great now, but to keep the ins. he signed up again. I hate the fact that our soldiers are always in danger. I am not dealing with this as well as I would like. It will get better with time. Thank you all so much for letting me vent.

Hi Nan,
My heart breaks for you sending your son off to the Middle East.  I can't imagine how you feel.  I have two adult sons, and am so grateful that they are not in the military right now, though I would be proud if they served.  I am proud of them now, though.

My prayers are going up for the two of you.

Hugs,
Trish

Good mornin', ya'll.
Yesterday was my last PT. Sooooo, glad! I took them a large edible arrangement. Lots of fruit for all of them.
Then when I got home and showered my DH and I went to run a few errands and have a late lunch.
Got back home and our 2 grandsons were just pulling in. They had gotten Burger King and came here to eat and watch TV with Grandpa. They all watch those fighting, bloody shows. Yuck. So glad we have a family room for them and a living room for me. Then their Momma stopped by on her way home. Our son saw all the cars and stopped in on his way home from work. DIL went through freezer and cupboards but couldn't find anything that grabbed her. Wound up taking home some chips to make nachos for her and our son.
Today is PO, bank, and back to the store for bananas I forgot yesterday! I hate when that happens. I got my ballot in the mail to vote as an IBM stockholder. How the heck do you know how to vote? I don't know the candidates or the issues! They give recommendations, but still! Soooo, as contrary as I am, I voted no when they recommended yes, and yes when they recommended no. I don't think my puny amount of shares is gonna make a big difference.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Morning Trish, Margo, Grammylew, Those yet to come. ..

Got into work at 7:30 this morning, had to clean up from last night's dinner activities with the group in from Chicago and Washington for the big hearing, make room for the breakfast stuff to be delivered and set up. . . so this job is part waitress (lol). . .  I didn't even have time to put my make-up on until 8:30 and then I got back to a deluge of things to print out for them to take to court, but they have finally left and will be in the courtroom most of today and from what I understand they will be leaving sometime tomorrow, yippee!!!

So I will be working this evening at least until 6 p.m., possibly later, depending on what they need when they all come back from court.

Otherwise, I am feeling good, day 3 of eating healthy and making right choices, though I must say I am missing some things right about now, just not sure what they are (lol).

Ok, that's it from me, I'll go start my emotional eating thread. . .

Have a great day, sending thoughts of peace and strength out to those dealing with life challenges, Laureen
