George update
As you can probably tell by my twinkling smile, the angiogram results were very good!!! Thank all y'all for your prayers, good thoughts, and especially thank you Eileen for calling to check on us. We arrived at the hosp. @ 6:10, signed in at the registration desk, went upstairs to same day surgery, and waited. George had the good sense to shave the top of his hands and elbow areas in anticipation of all the tape used for IVs. He's hairy as an ape LOL! He did not however shave his privates 'cause as he told the nurse he didn't know which side or how high and low to shave. They came to get him about 9:30 - actually started the procedure about 10:30. Danny, our son the nurse, came to be with me. Wouldn't you know it, just the minute I to go to the bathroom, the doctor comes out to give us a report, so I missed him. DX: a couple of very slight blockages that he chooses to treat agressively with medication and diet rather than place stents or balloons. George was back in his room by 11:15. The newest procedure is to use a collagen bead to close the artery, which allows the patient to be up and walking in 2 - 3 hours rather than the old way of lying flat and still for 6 - 8 hours. Unfortunately it didn't work for George, so he had to stay still until 4:00. He did so well we were able to head home at 5:00. He spent a good night in his recliner. I really intended to post earlier, but after calling our other two kids, my mom, his coworkers, my coworkers, I never got online. This morning I hit the floor running, making sure he was OK, went grocery shopping, came home to find him antsy.
Believe me, I'm not complaining, but he's driving me crazy 'cause he's bored! He cannot lift anything heavier than 10 lbs, cannot work in his garden, and above all cannot go rabbit hunting this last weekend of the season. How I wish the doctor would have given me something to slip in his coffee to knock him out. He says I need to stop hovering. All I can say is catch-back is a *****! I'm doing what he did all those times the shoe was on the other foot!
Thanks again dear OFF family. Now let me go down and ride herd on my patient before he gets in trouble!
HUGS, Debbie
