From my country, Canada, to yours
It's me, Margaret. I just took my avatar off.

President Obama came here last week. I wanted to say something about his trip here but wasn't sure if I could. I saw the posting about the inauguration, and thought I would make a comment.
President Obama came to our capital last week to meet with out Prime Minister, Harper. When he was here, he said, "I love this country". He was greeted as if he were a rock star, and I was so happy that he chose us as his first, official visit. We are your largest trading partner and your next door neighbour. I'm hoping that we become better friends.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I was moved by his election (I mean lots and lots of tears) and by his trip to my home, Canada. I think that good things are in store for all of us!!

I'm an old hippie too; I went against the grain long before it was acceptable. Now, my students see only an old broad teaching them and not the young rebel I once was. If they only knew!!
We are one world - if only we all acted like that. sigh

Hugs and flowers back at ya'

I have hopes for the future too. It may take a while, but it took a long time to dig the hole that we find ourselves in. Being a leader of a country cannot be an easy task. I'm sure all who undertake it are confident that they can "fix" everything. Like plans on paper, reality is much often more difficult than it sounded like it would be. He's a very intelligent man. I hope that he has good advisors. We all have to help in any way that we can.
I live in Washington state. Being a border state to the province of British Columbia I have lived my entire life crossing back and forth during the summer. My brother has a fishing cabin on Vancouver Island.
Margaret, The way I see religion, politics, and sex is. . . I can take what I like and leave the rest. I love political and religious debates one on one among people that I know well. On line leaves too much "between the lines". I rely on facial expressions and voice tones to really discern what a person means. Sometimes things are taken too seriously that were meant as jokes or sarcasm. Sometimes feelings are hurt when it wasn't intended. I hate conflict and would just as soon leave that out of my daily online life.
I manage to get tangled up in what I am trying to say enough in person I don't need to do it online! Have a great day.

I love Vancouver Island - Victoria and Nanaimo. It's a beautiful area as I've heard Washington is.

How I agree with you. I prefer talking face to face. You can see the expressions and hear the inflections of the voice. One person says tomato and another says tomato.... lol see what I mean... this is why I don't like to talk about politics, religion or sex online.
Bashing others beliefs is not good. Stating ones beliefs without puting another down is best. That I do believe. Sigh, I too have become a lurker since some of the "fray" started.

How are we supposed to breath and grow, without a place that we can speak. I was so fat from swallowing so many of my feelings,I don't swallow anymore.
Special hug!
