Thanks everyone.  Since I'm his grandmother and love him dearly I guess I don't like to think he would go to  those places but your opinions help put things into better perspective.  So the concensus is, it's not the greatest thing in the world, going to the library would have been better, but it won't kill him.  I guess I would rather have not known about it.  I'm not a prude, but my grandson?  It's like trying to picture your parents having sex.  I love Marc's nekkid jokes.

I still love ya....

I just have a pet peeve about generalizations... since they are so unfair and hurtful...

All blacks are lazy.... all women are lousy drivers, all men are sex fiends (I know, I haven't helped this cause at all) etc....

At least I am universal about it... I don't like ANY generalizations when it comes to people... Men can be real jerks for sure... but there exists a small and vocal group that fight against that type of macho crap.... lots of women are pretty nasty too, but I make sure I judge each one on her own merits, not on the basis of mistakes others of her gender have made.

I didn't mean to blast at ya... I apologize for my rudeness...

..... course, all of us mariners use bad language and are rude

I am going out to the woodshop now to turn some wood into a bowl... and stab my dog with a fork.... cause all us woodworkers are animal abusers

Your grandson would eventually end up at one at some point. Better that he was with someone you knew....I guess.

Personallly I can't see spending the money whether it is  to watch men or women.

Higs.....connie d

Thanks Connie.  I don't like the idea of it at all, but I think what bothers me most is that he went with someone who should be setting an example for him.

Yes Susan, I'm afraid we've offended our dear Marc.  Sorry Marc, we didn't mean it.  We know you guys can't help it.

  go figure    oh well ...

I guess I am really "out of the times"  ... haha.  A few years ago the neighbor had a big bachlorette party (yes there was a COP stripper even).  They brought in a bus to haul the women some where  else to party some more.  Well, I saw these women (and teenage girls) running around carrying these giant blow up hot dogs    and I remember thinking WHAT THE HECK??????  Here, it was blow up "u-know whats" they were running around with.  Some of the girls were like 14 years old!!!  and were there with their Mom's.  I am no prude, but I think this was a tad too adult for minors and also very rude to us neighbors.

Different strokes for different folks I guess?

Sounds like you're getting a lot of opines.  18 today is not what 18 was . Downing brews and watching naked pole hoppers is not the passage I would have chosen. A fishing or camping weekend bonds better and he will always remember that event BECAUSE of who took him there.   He'll get his kicks with his buddies later
And by the way, I cant remember what my 18th was all about.  Damn 60's  dont remember much

I remember what I did on my 18th birthday and it's not much better than what my grandson did to celebrate.  But of course we see things differently at 60 than we did at 18.  I just talked to my daughter again and told her I was bothered by the fact that her fiance' took him and she said she really didn't like it much that he wanted to go there either but that she thought going with someone responsible would be better than going with his buddies and she wanted him to be safe.  I have to agree with that but we both would rather see him in church or something.  Fat chance.  Anyone who has a son or grandson that age surely knows what I'm feeling.

Susan - I think the neighborhood party you descibe is way over the top.  What kind of mother would accompany her 14 or 15 year old daughter to such an event.  I probably wouldn't even go to it.  As I said, I'm not a prude either but sheeeesh, have some class. Use the blow-ups in private!

Those of us with kids ourselves were not at all happy about the goings on over there. Underage kids drinking there etc. She used to hang out with her son's friends (all under 18) in her tiny bikini also ... and her son wasn't even there!!! She also let her daughters b/f (both 16) move in as well as her son's g/f but at least they were 18 or so ... Used to be constant wild parties there. They have settled it down A LOT since the kids moved out and they can't blame the parties on them ... haha.

I can't remember what I did for my 18th birthday. I was still a senior in HS (with a curfew and strict parents) so I am sure it involved FOOD (haha) and maybe I was allowed to stay up till midnight if I was QUIET about it and IF it was the weekend.
