An Update
Hello all
I haven't been here in awhile because the last time I was here I was in a 'woe is me' mode because my surgery was postponed for up to a year after my heart procedure.
My doctor told me I was in the grip of depression, which is not at all uncommon for someone who was just diagnosed with type II diabetes and has had a heart scare as I have had. Also, the recovery from having the stent placed in my artery was not going 'according to plan.... my plan that is!" I thought because my heart was not getting plenty of blood (I had a 95% blocked artery) that I'd just be able to start exercising full force and just 'get on with my life'. He's given me some low dose anti-anxiety drugs and I do believe they've taken hold as I feel like myself again. Thank the good Lord!
I am going to cardiac rehab 3 time a week now and the transformation in me has been amazing. I have more energy, have dropped a few pounds and am sleeping like a new born baby. My blood sugar levels are leveling off at 100, right where they should be and my blood pressure is down to well within the normal ranges. My heart pain is gone and I am finding I can exercise longer and stronger than ever before. The exercise physiologist at the rehab facility is wonderful about monitoring how I am doing with each exercise and the nurses their monitor my heart as I exercise.
I don't know that I'd ever have exercised hard again if it weren't for cardiac rehab. Just to know that I can lift weights, walk on treadmill, ride bikes, use stair stepper, etc now without fear that something will happen to my heart is such a blessing!
Thank you to all of you for your kind words when I was going thru that rough time. I"m back to my fun loving self and enjoying life immensely. I see my cardiologist in April and hope to get the green light for surgery soon.
warm regards to all,
Linda
