I think I'm depressed
Hi everyone...
I know I haven't been around much lately. I had my gallbladder and appendix out last month and I think I've slipped into a sort of depression. I don't really know what's going on with me but I believe it's got a lot to do with the changes in my physical appearance and it's affecting my head. I feel like a different person and I'm not enjoying things like I used to and my husband seems different to me and it's like I'm not content with my life after losing almost 80 pounds so far. I am not going to wait to see if it passes.... tomorrow I'm making an appointment with a therapist... the same one I saw prior to the weight loss surgery. I can't be the first WLS person to go through this.
Sorry to be such a downer today... I have missed you all and I'm going to make more of an effort to post daily. I think that will help me too.
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday.

Dearest Laura, many of us go through anxiety, and or depression after WLS. Food has been our drug, our dubious friend,we are becoming new people. It takes time to adjust to the changes. I went through a stage where I thought my face most unattractive as I lost.
You are so wise to nip this in the bud,and our friends and family are adjusting to a new you.
I wish you the best, and boy oh boy,are you ever in the right place here, these are some loving brothers and sisters.
Hugs

Sorry to see you are feeling down Laura but I think you are wise to seek some help and not wait to see if goes away. I have suffered from depression/anxiety for many years and know the symptoms you speak of. I am just fine but know that I must take the prescribed medication on schedule. My depression is heriditary and I sought help very early on and am so fortunate to have good MH care here in my community. You hang in there dear Laura, you are going to be okay. Your new picture is beautiful. Congratulations on your weight loss success.
An OFF friend always,
Sandy
((((((((((( hugs Laura )))))))))) I am so sorry you are feeling blue
. You have accomplished so much (80 lbs lost) dear and you look wonderful! You made it through those surgeries and I think being blue afterwards happens to some people. Your body is still recovering from the trauma. I think you are very wise to go talk things over with someone. I think that some spouses are also confused when their mate changes so much so quickly and they have to come to terms with their own emotions and fears. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
