What's New Saturday?

Today I'm gonna personally stimulate the economy. I've gotten my tax refunds back. I'm not spending it all. I'm only getting a few needed items.
I need a new printer for my computer. Old one died. I've got to get a few new pairs of pants. Old ones getting to big, YAY.

Not to mention getting groceries and other household items. Can't spend too much Hubby still not working yet. He's looking, nothing much out there right now. He was told it should pick up in a month or so. I hope. I've tried to get him to go to work in my place and I'd stay home but it didn't work.

I'm off the weekend which is a good thing. I just wish we had all weekends off. But what can you do.

I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day.

Good morning Teresa and all you other OFFers!

Hope you have a good day.  I am winding down here at my full time job.  Then I will work 3 hours at my part time job before going home and finally getting some sleep. Don't know what I am going to do the rest of the day (after  I wake up) but it will be something insignificant.

Maybe I will take Mary out for a slice of pizza.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Morning one and all,

Happy Valentines Day!  This is a busy week of the year for us, my son's birthday being a week ago today, Gary's tomorrow. Valentine's gets pushed aside, and that's ok. We believe we should treat each other well all year, not just one day. You can't make up for thoughtlessness or inconsideration with a Hallmark card and a balloon.

Teresa, hope you enjoy your shopping spree today, no matter what size it is!  Our tax refund is just enough to pay our property taxes this Spring, so no economy stimulatin' for us. We're just thankful it will cover it so we don't have to break into the piggy bank.

Tess called last night. Seems the new packaging and labels for Saint Bella are a hit.....she's nearly sold out of the new stock she just took in on Tuesday. Gary has to take more over today Yet another delay on the online store, the graphic artist is going out of town for a week so that puts us behind on finishing the labels. Oh well, we'll do fine with the two fragrances we have.

Sure hope everyone has a great day today.

Susan

I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't get back to sleep....was on the computer for an hour, then tried to go back to bed but that never works for me....so, I've showered, made the bed and gotten dressed.  Will read my daily devotions here in a few minutes, watch the news, and probably get on the bike for 30 minutes.

Nothing planned for today....need to get a couple small storage boxes to put stuff in out of the entertainment center as I want to get a new LCD TV and stand.  Hopefully the new stand will have some storage.  There is a lot of "stuff" in there that will no doubt go into the rummage sale box.

Hey George, I have tapes of the Detroit Tigers when they won the world series back in the 80's, I think it was.....would you be interested in them????

We have about an inch of new snow on the ground this morning and it's in the low 30's.

Margo, I'm mixed up about the post about the Forever Box and Darlene's reply --- it's sure not showing up on here for me????

Well, have a lovely day and if you have a loved one or significant other to spend the day with, be sure to tell them how much you love them, not just today, but every day.

Blessings,
Pat R.

Good morning all.  A lovely Saturday here.

We used our tax refund to get the DH a new monitor.  His had a spot in the middle, at the bottom and it was spreading upward!  He got a new 24" one and he is thrilled.

Off to the Commissary for a few healthy groceries.  We have really had nothing in the house since he bagan his 2 week pre-op, cause we figured he wouldn't be eating much post-op either!  But since he now doesn't get the band until March 5th, and he only has to do 1 week of liquids pre-op this time.  It is time to get 10 days worth of good food for him.

I'll be going to TX to see my Momma this week.  She has been having lots of medical problems, and now her PCP says she has something wrong with her kidneys and needs to see a specialist.  Her doctor is also thinking she will need her gall bladder out, but needs to see if her heart will take it!  She has been very depressed since Daddy died last May (they had been married 65 years), and his birthday would have been Monday.  Not a good time for her!  I think she needs a hug!

Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Good morning, Teresa and my OFF family.

Just another boring day in the neighborhood here. We did get a dusting of snow which is good for us. They were saying that we would get about 5". I personally love having the weatherman be wrong. It is cold but I have to expect cold temperatures in the winter. I live in NW IN........duh!

I have been just sitting here for about and hour and a half and just browsing. I did answer some and had some pm's to answer too. I got those done and now I am going to post the What are we eating thread. I am not sure how that came to be me but it is what it is. All I know is that I have to do what I can to help others.

I finally got my homework for Lay Speaker school done. So I am set for tomorrow. I never thought that I would get it done. Nothing was coming to me and so what I did is take a bit from one and another and blended them together and I got one that makes sense. Oh well....you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. Life is what it is.

I guess I should get going. I have a couple of things to get at the grocery store today and I need to get my breakfast and shower. Oh the life of a social butterfly.........yeah right on that one! I haven't been out of the house since early this week. Like Monday I think!

I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers and or special thought go up for you too. Don't forget to smile at someone today. It is going to bring joy to them and to you too.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Aloha Teresa and OFf sibs........Teresa...how nice to have you start the thread. I just looked at your ticker, and you are DOING FABULOUSLY on your program at almost one year. I hope you have been keeping track of your downward progress.....it really is uplifting to look back at the numbers as they fall.

It is 4:45 a.m. and I'm dressed and ready to go to the hospital to test "my babies." A friend who works there called last night and said that the nursery is FULL so I'm going to have a long morning.

My big kitty, Nicki, has just started a new game. He LOVES his catnip filled mouse, and now has discovered the game of "fetch." He races down the hall with the mouse and places it at my feet and I toss it as far as I can, and off he goes. He really NEEDS the exercise....he is a fat cat!! He's the one who I got from the shelter that had been thrown into a pineapple field and was only about 3 weeks old and almost dead. Nursed him through a few tough days, and now HE'S A TANK!! Love that sweet big black boy kitty!

Sorry about the discord on here between OFFers.......not sure why we need to fuss and feud when we have so much to offer each other that is positive. But then the psychologist in me says if this IS a family, then there is going to be discord......it's almost a given. My philosophy has always been if there's a constructive goal to be reached, argue away....if it's just for posturing or needing to inflict pain...then it's totally destructive and unfortunately sends some of our special people scurrying away. That is a shame!

Off to babyland........here's hoping you all have a wonderful Valentines Day. I'm sending LOVE to both my ex'es!!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Hi Teresa and my OFF family:

Glad you can stimulate the economy. I got my tax refund a week ago and it's already gone. I paid bills with it ... I was responsible for once in my life. Well, I did buy a few clothes. But the bulk ($2,000) went to pay the condo association for past fees that they never billed me for (I thought the bankruptcy court was paying) and I never got statements. So now I owe a little less to them, they're happy, I'm less threatened by them. I still have some bills hanging over me, but not as many. Someday, I'll dig myself out of this hole I'm in ... I think I just have one more year in bankruptcy hell.

We got maybe an inch or two of snow overnight. I was driving in it last night on the way home, which wasn't fun. Work was pretty uneventful, except about midway through the night, we had to call our tech support folks because our printer wasn't working. Turns out the network had gone down, so we had to shut down for awhile while they rebooted and fixed things. Luckily, most of us (on the news desk at least) had our pages done or well along (sports didn't, of course) so it didn't affect too much.

I was really tired last night ... would have gone to bed even earlier but then Scooter climbed up on my lap and started purring, so I stayed out in the living room and watched some stuff I had DVR'd. My little furry Valentine was loving me up. I finally went to bed ... my knee was bothering me but I used some Icy Hot PM lotion on it and it really helped ... I only had to use the one vicodin I usually take at night to help my back issues. I like being able to cut back.

I feel pretty good today. I'm going to make my almond breakfast cookies that my friend Bruce made last year for me when I dog-sat ... they're full of protein (made with almond flour, no dairy) and I've had the recipe for awhile, just didn't have the energy to stand. But now that I have a stool in the kitchen, I can sit and bake. So that hopefully will help.

But I'm not going out today other than to get the mail, and that's going to be in the car to the mailbox ... not even getting out of my jammies. I'm really going to be lazy. I will do my exercising, though ... I've already done some of my PT while I was waiting for my coffee to brew. I'm trying to take this very seriously to get my legs and hips stronger, so I can quit this cycle of pain.

Well, I guess I've rambled on long enough. Enjoy your Valentine's Day, if you have a sweetie to go out with. Me, I may watch a love story and cry ... sounds like a plan!

Eileen, I'm curious. Are the almond cookies gluten free? My son's girlfriend is gluten intolerant and is seeking good recipes that contain no wheat. Many grains contain gluten such as oats and barley but not as much as wheat. I'd like the recipe if you can share. Thanks,

Karen C
