I keep seeing your excellent weight losses and then I look at your surgery type and it's
always gastric!   I tend to stick to the regular lapband surgery site on OH because of this.

The much slower weight loss can be frustrating!

I was 64, and very ill.  I didn't have the time for a slow weight loss.  I had to lose fast and keep it off.  I admire bandsters though and wish you success.  You can still talk with us and if you are over 50 you are one of us.  It isn't often I see anyone actually talking surgery types.

Welcome to  this over fifty site..It is my favorite site and the people are so very friendly..ChitCat is a real hoot and very friendly.. There is not any thing wrong with any surgery choice, but I chose RNY/LAP because I had diabetes and they told me Lap band did not get rid of diabetes thus this surgery of RNY worked for me..Nice to meet you and please visit us on this site as often as you want..Best wishes

K,

I'm a 55-year-old bandster.  There are several other bandsters who post here on OFF from time to time.

Weight loss with the band may be slower, but it still happens!

If you hang around the Over Fifties Forum for a while, you'll find lots of encouragement and absolutely none of the my-WLS-is-better-than-yours mentality that tends to come up on the Main WLS forum.

jean...thanks so much for addressing the mentality that is so abundant on some of the other boards in re which type of surgery  to have.....

c/s how is your mother?? i think of you two often....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margo,

My mom's OK, thanks for asking.  She has bad days and not-so-bad days.

K - I got my band at 59 (I'm 61 now and down 97 pounds).  My DH will be banded March 5th, and he is 68.  We are here!!

I also check out the Lap Band forum, the NC forum, and the grads forum.  I like all of them.  But I spend the most time here, at the OFF forum.  But I have actually met many of the ones on the NC forum at our monthly get togethers.

Look around.  Ask your questions in both places if you want.  Someone will get back to you.  Everyone on OH is SOOO friendly and helpful.
