OT: Rant
One woman's junque is another woman's treasure.... but the box and the secret anythings have lost their enchantment for me.
I don't wish to participate any longer in any of it. It's much too stressful, causes hard feelings and no one should have to babysit anything.
I know when I packed the box to send I had spent about $35 on goodies and then I included the pancake mix as an extra...it's from Kerbey Lane in Austin, Texas... definite carbs but one of Austin's treasured eateries and they are famous for their mixes. Only four stores in the Dallas/Ft Worth area carry it. My grandkids love them. Someone evidently took the William Sonoma dishtowels and I can't remember what else I put in there. I have no clue about the fragrant bubblebath, that wasn't mine. I got cute bunny slippers that Beth put in.

i have to agree with all of your comments janet--i am dropping out of it too--i am tired of being babysat and the complaining that has accompanied these boxes.i know that the intentions were good when they began...the stress isn't worth it....and i am sure ...well never mind-nuff said....

I will do what I can to fix it when I get it.
Maybe I can find a good item I like, along with a couple of the white elephants, and replace them with two good items. I will see what I can do, Darlene it is not your place to send the money to replace stuff. When you participate in this (as a receiver of the box), you have to realize that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

please remove my name from the list of future recipients. too stressful..i am sure that i will not provide gifts to your expectations; tho i had some things put aside specially for the box. and i do not require a babysitter...a maid maybe but not a babysitter......this type of thing is why i don't coordinate anymore secret pal exchanges.....
your intentions were great when you started this--it just is too much effort.... and i think it has gotten mixed up with the mystery boxes.....

Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed and loved getting the box. I was looking forward to it and wasn't disappointed. I just think we are all so diverse in our tastes that it makes it difficult to do a box.

The box was a good idea and still can be a lot of fun if everyone plays right. In this day of $$$ woes it may be difficult for some to participate now. Postage is high and going up, yada, yada.
It might be time to go over the list and send out a mass email to see who wants to play and who doesn't and then back away. If everyone gets a copy of the list of where the box is headed upfront, the players can keep up with it themselves.
I'll help if I can, you know that.

Margo is right saying she doesn't need to be babysat. We are adults. It is a shame some do need to be nudged I would say, not babysat.
Janet's idea is good. The copy of the list goes to everyone and then the original person (Darlene in this case) can just back out.
Darlene's intentions were admirable. She feels responsible for the box, even though she should not. We are adults and we should be responsible. Thank you Darlene for your good intentions.
