OT: Rant

Maybe I should take this to the Rants and Raves board, but not sure enough of the OFFers would read it there.

This is directed to those that are signed up on the Forever Box.

If you note when you receive the box there should be a paper with directions, the box was kept at 4 or 5 items of quality rather than 10-12 white elephants. It appears that we are back on the elephants and the quality of the box is diminishing.

So, how do we fix this? Shall I send $$ to each person on the list to buy replacements? Remember, the rules were posted when you signed up and made a commitment. Mature adults on the board should not have a problem with understanding the rules or do we?

If you want to be taken off the list of the box coming around, just send me a private message, I can do that. If your commitment to the box  has changed, please let me know, don't let the integrity of the box go down any more, I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? I don't like getting messages that the box is full of "junk". It didn't start that way and shouldn't end that way....

I thought that I would be able to relieve myself of guard duty on the box, but looks like I'm still on duty.

Someone, please tell me how to fix this? I am just without a resolution, nor do I have time to try and fix it all the time.

Sorry to rant, but come on people......we are adults here or should be.

I agree with you, Darlene and Connie. I am not sure just what to do either. Some was and some wasn't. I guess everyones idea of quality is different. But the rules were simple enough.

Maybe, the next person to get it can just take out the junk and put in quality things.  That would be like paying it forward.  I kinda liked that movie and the message.

When I got the box, it had 10-12 things in it.  Some were just little dollar store knicknacs.  I went through and got rid of a ripped calendar and a few other things.  I replaced them with a few good items, but also included some of the original items because I felt that was what someone must have thought was valuable....and there was some room for some tiny filler items.  Brenda enjoyed my bracelet and Connie said she liked my lambie and glass apple.  Not everyone enjoys the same treasures, but someone thought that pancake mix and fragrant bubblebath was terrific, so I passed them on...not my treasures, but maybe for someone on down the line, they will be.  I also reprinted the list which came with the box and the directions...which did not come with the box.  It is what it is.  I felt the excitement and the disappointment and tried to correct the latter.  I did keep a darling ornament of snowboots from Alaska.  Darlene...you had a wonderful idea, but you must let it go...you are responsible only for getting it started, not for what happens to it in so many households.  Once out of anyone's hands it is, as I said, what it is.  Thank you for caring so much and getting it going.  Love and hugs.  Diane

are you sure you got the "Forever box" and not the mystery box???? i think the mystery box had a calendar in it when it was at my house--i am not due for the forever box for a few more ppl..

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
