Today I start my liquids for two weeks and then on the 23rd my Lap Rny. I am so excited and so darn scared at the same time I guess because of my age 59. Would love to hear from people my age how they did with the surgery and after. Hugs to all

I was 58 years old when I had my RNY/LAP on 8/12/08. So age should not worry you. I had diabetes and was on cholesterol medicine, but as of now I am off of all medicine and have lost 69#'s and i am down to 159#'s . I started @ 228 and it is 6 months now and I feel great
Please let me know if I can help you in any way..I would be glad to chat with you... Best of luck and we'll see you on the loser's bench.

Thanks suzette, you sure did wonderful. I can't wait for the part of feeling good, hoping the back gets better and the knees. After the surgery did you have alot of pain?

Aloha Jacki......Have I noticed before that we had surgery on the same day?? There is someone else on here who also had surgery on that date, and I'm not sure who that is either. Interesting that we are both WAY below our target weights and seem to be keeping it off very well.

Here's wishing you continued success and good health.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Aloha from your Hawaiian WLS sister....

Jacki and I had surgery on exactly the same day!! Wow...not sure I realized that before. As she has done, I have also been very happy with my surgery, and the panniculectomy I just had (12/3), and have had almost no problems with either surgery.

My age at surgery was 62!! I'm now 65 and feel better and look better than I have in 30 years.

You will do fabulously........enjoy every minute of the journey.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Aloha Karen,
I must say you look amazing and you are telling me you are 65? Well, if this is what the surgery does I'm all for it. You are an inspiration to me. Hugs Gail
