A Double Birthday Party

My birthday was this past week, and it was also my grand-daughter's sweet 16 birthday party.  I spent a few days at my daughter's home and we all had a wonderful time.  How time flies.  The best birthday present ever was the day my grand-daughter was born.  We share the same birthday and a very special bond.  I turned 67 and she turned 16, but the wonderful part of it all is that a few years ago I never thought I would live to see 67.  Surgery changed my life, and allowed me to spend a very special birthday with her and the rest of the family.

We went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and I managed to eat just a few bites of cheesecake (the food there is awesome), and for me that is incredible, because that is a real trigger food for me.  We all received some incredible gifts, and I was able to give my grand-daughter her first pair of diamond stud earrings.  I now want to live long enough to see her wear them on her wedding day..but I plan on sticking around for grand-children also:) God willing and the creek don't rise.

Three years ago I couldn't walk because of my weight and this week I walked the malls and all over the place with one of my daughter's.  What a great birthday this was, and what a wonderful gift this surgery has been to me.  I just wanted to share that turning 67 was indeed a wonderful birthday :)

What a wonderful thing to share a birthday with a grandchild.  I share one with a nephew and we have a great time on birthdays.  One half of the cake is decorated for him and one for me.  It's grand.  I am 58 and he is 8.  He was born on my 50th.  Special, so special.
Glad that life is so much better post surgery for you.  Congrats on your new life and may you have many more birthdays together.

Thank you all.  It was an incredible birthday, but nothing can top the day she was born.  She was due on Valentine's Day, but Grandma kept up hopes she would arrive early and she didn't disappoint.  She is such a sweetheart.  She is an honor student, a cheerleader, and one of the most compassionate teens I've ever met.  I'm so proud of all my grand-children, but share a very special bond with her.  Her name is Charlie, and it fits her perfectly.  She was named after my Dad who died 3 years ago at the age of 100.

 CONGRATULATIONS on all the progress you have made for yourself! I am so proud of you.

You have accomplished so much this year of your 67th birthday.  I just had my surgery about 3 weeks ago. It is a battle so far, but you are inspirational. So Happy Birthday To you and your dear Grandaughter, and you will be there for all the future important occassions.
