Hubby Update - X post
OK, so my DH went in for his lap band and gall bladder removal this AM.He has no gall bladder and no lap band. The ab ultrasound he had months ago said he had 'a calcified gall stone'. Well, he DID only have ONE!!Dr. Pender said this is the biggest gall stone he, or anyone else in the ER had ever seen. The biggest one he has seen before this was the size of his fingernail. You can see from the picture in my album, this was about 3" long and about 1" in diameter. By the time he fought to get it and the gall bladder out, Ray's guts were kinda swollen. Decided to wait and do the band in a couple of weeks.Funny thing, he has NEVER had any pain or gall bladder symptoms! He had quite a time in the recovery room, cause they make him lay in a bed, with his legs up. He can't breath that way, even sitting up in the bed! Once they let me in there, I was able to convince him to cough and breath deep as he was told. After another hour of that (at 12:45), they let him go to a room. He sat in the recliner chair the entire rest of the day and was happy as a clam. Has some pain at the incision, is eating soup and crackers, and is going to be able to sleep sitting up in the chair. I came back to the hotel for a hot bath, a bowl of cereal, and a good night's sleep. He can go home tomorrow morning.
Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I got him home and have a big pot of soup on the stove.
He lost 20 pounds pre-op and needs to keep it off. We stopped at McD's for some scrambled eggs on the way home. He wanted quick, and he wanted McD's coffee. Got him home and settled and went off to get his RX for percocet. Now he can sleep.
Still no word on when the lap band surgery will be
