I forgot that I had this recipe. My mom use to make it and now I do. We use to eat it with hot dogs and Bill still does but I eat it in a bowl with cheese on it. I love it just like that.

Mom's Hot Dog Sauce

lean ground beef~as much as you want
water
taco seasoning envelopes~as spicy as you want it
onion

Put raw hamburger in a saucepan and break it up. Pour some water on the hamburger and add onions and taco seasoning. I usually add a couple of packets. Simmer covered mixing and breaking up as it cooks. You have to make sure that you don't use to much water at the beginning. You can always add more as it cooks. You don't want it to thin. Since it is made this way you want to make sure that you use the best quality of hamburger that you can buy. I keep some in the fridge and then I freeze some too. This stuff is so good and I am so glad that mom taught me how to do it. I never thought that I would eat it without hot dogs, how we change. It is full of protein with the hamburger and the cheese that I melt on top of it.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi Brenda - here's one I use for baked, broiled, or pan seared fish or chicken

Mediterranean sauce
1 tbsp. olive oil
1/4 cup chopped onion (chopped rather small)
2 - 3 toes finely chopped garlic
1 bunch sliced green onions (including whites)
1 canned diced tomatoes with no salt
1 small can sliced black olives
1/4 cup sliced pimento stuffed green olives

Sautee onion in olive oil, when softened, add garlic, continue to sautee for another minute or two.  Add tomatoes, black olives, and green olives.  Simmer for about five minutes.  Add sliced green onions.  Pour on top of fish or chicken.

Debbie

George likes this sauce served on top of rice or pasta with or without the fish or chicken.

Ok,  I am going to let out a deep dark family secret!  My husbands uncle had a hamburger/hot dog stand here in town and had the best Chili in town.  He has since passed away and the stand has been sold.  Just don't tell where you got it!  LOL

1 lb ground Beef
diced onions
Tomato catsup
2 Tbl Chili powder +/-
Salt and pepper to taste

Saute equal parts of ground beef (lean) and onions until they are done breaking up the meat as you do with a fork. Add just enough tomato catsup to be able to simmer for a little while and the chili powder, salt and pepper.  Simmer until nice and thick!  Yummy on a Cheeseburger or hot dog.
