What's New? Sunday edition
Just woke up from falling asleep sitting up in bed reclining on a bunch of pillows reading a book with my neck in a kink and rather uncomfortable! Made a cuppa chai and decided to visit with you all!
I was busy yesterday, I lounged in the morning and knitted then in the afternoon made a huge vat of vegitable beef and barley soup and a smaller stock pot full of split pea and ham soup. They finished up late last evening and after cooling somwhat I got them all packaged into plastic containers to freeze for future use. Also made a batch of applesauce. Today I will be cooking up some marinated chicken breasts I bought.
I believe my dad and Gary may come over today to watch the game. I asked my son and his GF too but haven't heard back from them. I guess he had a gig last night but I did talk to Maria, she of course doesn't know any plans. I will probably knit while game is on, and may watch it periodically, we'll see.
Well, I think I am going back to the warm bed and snuggle in with the dogs and kitten! See you later!

It got up to 31 here yesterday, so I went out and cleaned my filthy garage a bit...otherwise, it was a lazy day for me.
Today is church this morning, then making a batch ofcreole fish and zucchini (bariatriceating) .....hope it turns out good. This evening is Book Club and we will review "The Book Thief"...this book now has special meaning for me since it takes place in Germany and I will go going there next year on a 11 day trip.
Otherwise a relaxing day which I do enjoy.....
Hope everyone has a good day, thoughts and prayers to those in need.

Done! Your Ticker:
had a nice day yesterday, my gf and her hubby came to visit me. they had not seen me since the accident so we had lots to catch up on. we had some coffee and sf danish and was nice to visit with them.
other than that life is quiet here. today will watch the superbowl with hubby although since his Giants lost, he is a tiny bit less interested.
i start physical therapy this week, but can only do passive stuff as I still have almost 6 more weeks of not being allowed to put weight on the rebuilt ankle.
I have been struggling a bit with my diet, the carb monster has been getting to me and the eating out of boredom thing. so my project for this week is to get this all under control again. i havent been able to stand on a scale since the accident, and i dont want any surprises when i can once again.
have a good day everyone
hugs, jacki
We bought a small house a few miles from here & we are renting to them. We have had someone either living here or visiting for over a year. Every other weekend his 4 preteens come to visit. I am so excited to get my house back.
Tomorrow is my last kidney procedure.(I hope). I want so bad to get back to my boring life.
My grandaughter Morgan is still 'cancer free'. Can life be any better?
One more bit of news, DH is leaving for Florida for 6 weeks soon. I won't know what to do with myself.
I can only hope & pray that all of you have a wonderful Sunday & an early spring!!!!
Nan
Mornin' all. I hope everyone is: feeling better, enjoying the pets, getting the chores done, helping with the move, and won't be too lonely. I love him DEARLY, but would rejoice if my DH went somewhere alone for 6 weeks (heck, for 1 week!).
I am packed and ready to head to Greenville. My DH's surgery is first thing tomorrow. We have to be there at 5:15 AM. It's 2 hours away. I HATE driving in the dark on unfamiliar roads. We are going up this afternoon. Will get settled in, watch the Super Bowl from the hotel bed and get a good night's sleep. I'm taking his laptop, and the hotel is supposed to have wifi. So I'll post a quick report on his surgery tomorrow night. My phone gets ZERO reception anywhere near the hospital up there. I have a phone card so I can use a pay phone to let the kids know how things went.
Sunday morning has ALWAYS been BLT's for breakfast at Gramma's (for at least 15 years). Since my DH is on his liquid diet, we are not forcing him to smell the bacon. No BLT's today. I'm sure I'll see the boys for french toast, or something not as tempting to Grandpa!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!
At about 2AM, Mary asked if we could go to our old church to say hi. So this morning we are off to First Baptist Church of Dallas for Sunday School. The Sunday School class for our age group there is about 1/4 the size of our current church. Nice folks, but the church was just too big for us. Plus, my son and his family go to our current church.
After that, we are coming home to nap, then to a Super Bowl party that one of my coworkers has every year. 60" TV in the living room, 42" in the den. The last time we went to a Super Bowl party together, we got a call from the my son telling us he had been arrested by the MPs for fighting. Mary was so distraught that we left in the first quarter of the game. Kids.
Then I will come home for another quick nap before I go to work for four hours.
Yesterday was uneventful. Went to work. Came home to nap. Went out to eat. Came home and played internet poker. Eeeeeehaaaa!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Well I think I am on the mend!!!! I just baught a ticket to Denver for 10 days for March 2-10.
going to meet up with Pat A. Cant wait.
See faith, Love and my angel that I got yesterday is surely taking care of me.
Now I need a place to stay in Denver. that will be easy. I ve got plenty of friends there.
Well off to start my day just might go see Austrailia.

I hope you all have a blessed day. I hate waking up with a kink in the neck too Debbie, mine happens when i fall asleep in the recliner. Pat's garage cleaning reminds me of the mess in our garage to tackle in the spring, tons of stuff from Earl's parent house to go through yet. Mystic, good luck with PT this week, hope your ankle is healing nicely. Nan best wishes and thoughts for your procedure tomorrow, hope it goes smoothly. Grammylew, will keep your DH in my thoughts and prayers that his surgery goes well and uneventful. George and any others...enjoy the Super Bowl today. Earl & I both hope the underdog,, Cardinals win as they were originally a Chicago team he tells me. Besides the Steelers have won so many times. I'm so glad Carla is home from the hospital and on the mend. She sounded so much better the last 2 times I talked to her. Eileen sent me some protein powder and a pic of her, Brenda and I from December. I have to remember to call her today and say Thank You!
DH is doing much better with his hand, down to taking Tylenol Arthritis now and the pain is manageable. Of course being off the Enbrel for 3+ weeks has made his RA flare up, but he can;t go back on that till after the stitches are removed on Wednesday.
I'm doing much better with my food, protein and liquid intake so the carb cravings have settled down. I have lost 4 of the 7 pounds I gained between Christmas and the first 2 weeks of Jannuary, now I need to get some regularly secheduled exercise into the mix.
Hugs, Paulette
Wow, we're having a heat wave in West Michigan ... 36 degrees ... woohoo! That won't last ... well, it's supposed to be that warm for the next few days at least. But then of course it'll snow. I go back to work tomorrow.
I enjoyed my day out yesterday with Gayle. We both laughed and cried at Marley and Me. It reminded me of the wonderful bond we have with our pets, and how hard it is to let them go. I remembered having to let go of Cinnamon and Kittle, my first two cats, who traveled with me from Montana to South Dakota to Georgia and finally to Michigan, where I had to let them go. Such brave kitties! Kittle was diabetic and hyperthyroid when he died ... I had to take blood from the side of his ear twice a day to test his blood sugar and give him insulin, but he never fought me ... he always purred while I took his blood and he actually jumped up on the table to get his insulin shots. (He hated his thyroid pills, though.) Cinnamon had hyperthyroidism too and chronic renal failure at the end, and needed pills and sub-Q injections of fluid ... he was nearly 19 when I let him go (he was panting and out of breath and I couldn't bear to see him go on like that.) But the hardest one has been Diva ... perfectly healthy but for some reasons refuses to poop in the litter box suddenly, and I had to give her back to the cat shelter. Yes, I could go and visit her, but it would be too hard to leave her again. Some people say animals have no souls, so they can't meet us in the afterlife, but I don't believe that. If there is an afterlife, I think the creatures we touch, be they humans or animals, are there for us. I hope so ... Cinnamon and Kittle were such a big part of my life ... I can't imagine an afterlife without them. I'm sure the author of "Marley & Me" feels the same.
But being out all day took a toll on my knee ... oh my, I was in pain. Lunch was fine, but walking around Barnes & Noble (I can't miss a bookstore) and then sitting in the theater for 2 hours was not comfortable. It's going to be a hard week. Not much planned for today. Just some PT at home, laundry, the big game of course and reading ... right now I'm watching Game 3 of the 2005 World Series with the White Sox and Astros ... I'm ready for baseball, too. The MLB Network replays a lot of the classic games ... couldn't miss this! Especially since the Sox won all four. This was a long one, 15, 16 innings, I can't remember ... I remember watching it at work and then coming home to see the end of it.
Mom called already ... Aunt Bernice, my 90-year-old, is back in the nursing home and doing better. The doctors said she wasn't going to make it after surgery to remove a tumor in her stomach, considering her age and the fact she now has congestive heart failure. And eventually, her heart is going to give out. But she's recovered and is arguing with her daughter and the nurses, just like normal. I'm glad she's doing better, although I know she doesn't have long for this world. I just want her to be comfortable and free of pain.
Well, the White Sox just scored two runs ... back to the ballgame and I have to empty the washer and put in another load. Busy, busy. Have a good day ... I'm rooting for the Cardinals because they were from Chicago originally and were my dad's team. And they're the underdog ... but I think the Steelers' defense is too good.
What a beautiful day we had yesterday....46 degrees and sunny!!! I was out every chance I got....I enjoyed every hour of it!!! Today is only about 30 but I will take that too.... the sun is shining brightly!!
We will be watching the Super Bowl with friends. It should be a good game. Always fun to be with friends!!
Carla....hope today is a good day for you...wishing you a full recovery.
Linda S....always in my thoughts and prayers...love you sweetie!!
Everything seems to be going well with my children and grandchildren.....makes for a happy day!!
Love and hugs......connie d
