MRSA infection
Hi everybody, new to the over fifty board but had a successful RNY on Jan. 14th. No problems at all except for some diarrhea. BUT, I did pick up the superbug!!! Surgery was in Rochester but Ontario docs did a culture on my hernia repair wound and it came back positive for MRSA. The hernia repair is the big problem and preventing quick recuperation. Otherwise, I feel so good I'd be on a plane heading south. Has anyone else had problems with this infection? It's a little scary.
I's sorry about the MRSA. The hospital is where most people pick up the bug. I've been told that we all have it in our systems and sometimes (like when in an opportunistic place, i.e., the hospital) we get the actual infection. It's a tough one to get rid of, unfortunately. But I wish you lots of luck and good thoughts going your way. Congrats about the surgery and best wishes with that. On the journey.

Thank you so much for all the replies re MRSA. I know it's a resistant little bug but I won't let it bother me. I'll do as I'm told and I'm delighted to be on the losers' board at last!!! So encouraging to find my age group here...I'll be 60 next month. Haven't checked scales yet but I'm afraid to get on them so I'll wait until my next trip to Rochester in Feb.
