Hello my friends, Just wanted to update you... I had my 2 wk. appointment and my Blood Pressure was normal!!! Yeah! I also lost 19 pounds! I am so happy about that! Yesterday I walked 6 blocks. I know it doesn't sound like much... but I was exhausted afterwards! I am feeling better everyday and getting used to my new stomach. Drinking water is becoming alot easier and I am learning what I can and cannot tolerate food wise. I am getting my Vitamins in and protien. I have a hard time getting the shakes down... so I've been putting my protien mix in my s/f pudding. Overall, things are going better for me than the first 2 weeks!!! Hope everyone here is doing well and had a great summer? Did you do anything fun and exciting? Please share your summer adventures with us! Thanks for taking the time to read my post Have a great Wednesday! ~Melody~

Good Morning Melody, I am always interested to read what you have to say. Maybe because I am going through a lot of the same stuff you are, just a bit later. I SHOULD be having my surgery the first part of October, but so far no date. My preop class and surgeon visit are the 28th and 29th of this month. Maybe I will call Christie today and see if she can give me a date. I have to agree with you--she is the best! Very helpful and on top of things. I can't say the same for the rest of the staff! I think walking 6 blocks sounds like a miracle! Good for you! I can hardly make it out to my car right now. Not just cause I'm fat, I had an accident with my treadmill a few weeks ago and it seems to be taking forever to get well. Doc says it has caused me to have muscle spasms and a pinched nerve. I start physical therapy Friday. But anyway, your progress sounds very good to me. Also, I just read your profile. It's great. I sure need to do some work on mine. Carb Solutions from Safeway makes a pretty good smoothie, better than some more expensive ones I have tried. I was so glad you clued us in about the Boost. I won't be trying that one. Blessings, Kath

Six blocks is not bad at all, unless you're talking about the play blocks with the letters on them. But exercise is good, no? Would you believe I swam the English Channel? Er, how about 20 laps in an olympic size pool? Well, would you believe twice around the bathtub? For me It's hard to get out and exercise. Seems like every time I went walking i pulled my achille's tendon or something, or tripped in the dark in a hole and took a nose dive. When I got up there were 3 kids there with plaqueards showing my score of 3.5 Would have scored better if I had landed on my head instead of my arm and shoulder. But time to start again. i may able to trip the light fantastic instead now that I'm 45 lbs lighter. And I know what you mean about those shakes ! Someone, please gag me! I got a whole bunch sitting around I bought before my surgery and now can't stand. Well, i could stand them if I could get it all down in one gulp like some hungry dog. But taking small sips is torture. It's utterly inhuman! I just try and get it in anyway I can, protein that is. Jerry

Jerry! You are tooo funny!!!!! I've got a bunch of those shakes sittin' around here too.... I'm thinkin' about tormenting my brother and giving them to his kids! lol They can handle all that sugar! hehehhee.... I know, I'm a bad bad sister! lol Naw, I don't know what to do with them... maybe I'll give them to a food bank or something? I only have like 8 of em'. I'll probably do that. Take care and congratulations on your loss of 45 Lbs. That's great! Keep up the great work and the great sense of humor you have! ~Melody~

Hi Kath! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your post! You'll have to forgive me k? lol Please let us know what your thoughts are on the Pre-Op class? Yeah, I love Christy. She is the sweetest, but the rest of em' ???? it's like I had to make a lot of phone calls and do a lot of foot work myself. Oh well, I learned a few things about the process! I hope your Physical Therapy goes well for ya. Stupid evil treadmill! lol... no seriously, being in pain is NO laughing matter.. my abdominal muscle was torn during surgery and man....I couldn't even (pardon me) fart without the whole world knowing about what kind of pain It put me through! lol ok.... that's kind of funny.... now.... but it wasn't then! I am almost healed up! Yeah! I hope you start to feel better before surgery! Thank you for the compliments (ref. profile). I get bored I guess I've never tried Carb Solutions but I know a lot of OHM talk about it.... yeah.... stay away from the Boost! Pure EVIL! I did talk with Dr. Jan at my post-op appointment on the 12th and told him about the menu too.... he said he didn't realize and he was going to check into it! We'll see! Talk to you soon and keep me posted about your upcoming surgery! Yeah!!!!!!! I am so happy for you! ~Melody~
