I have heard so much about both of these procedures that I wanted to see what some of you thought. Ive heard one office say that Laparoscopic is safer shorter hospital stay etc. But then another says that the sinle incision is safer. What do you all think. Elisa H

My doctor in Florida does it open for the simple reason it is quicker, and he doesn't want to keep us on the table for the amount of time it takes to do it lap.

what procedure have you decided yet? My Dr does both RNY and Lap Band lapriscopic, he only does open procedure if there are complications. The Lap band takes him anout 45 min and RNY about 2 hours. I had the lap band and am very pleased with my results. I was 320 lbs, and at surgery 280 and now am 200 waiting to break the 200 mark. It takes a bit longer w/ the band but studies show at the 2 yr mark most bandsters have lost an equal percentage of wt as RNY. I believe that lap is safer, and you heal much quicker than w/ open procedure, due to less trama.
