I'm just wondering what kind of testing Dr. Adaniel requires before surgery.  I haven't seen him yet, but I want to make sure my insurance covers everything because I'm not exactly rolling in the dough at the moment.   Also if you guys who have had them could share your experiences and whether he did an open or lap procedure on you.  From all the reviews on here, he seems to be great, but you can never know too much.  Thanks :o)

Just wanted to say "Hi" to ya...  I didn't have him, but hate to read a post and not reply, either way.  I can assume with your question you're hoping to have RNY?

Good luck!

I can tell you from personal experience...the time will fly!  You'll wake up and see that your surgery is behind you and life is a new place to be!  Congrats to you!

I saw Dr. A'daniel for a 2nd opinion on surgery.  I ended up choosing another surgeon for the procedure after meeting with him as he never had a candidate for surgery similar to my medical history (benign stomach polyps).  I found this to be rather unusual given the number of surgeries many of these doctors have performed.  I'm sure he orders up all the standard pre-surgical stuff and will have a packet for you to refer to including recommended doctors for some of his required stuff.  Usually a surgeon will refer to you doctors that are affiliated with the same hospital keeping it all in network.  Sometimes it's not the surgeon requiring pre-op stuff but your insurance company.  Many have required 6 months of pre-surgical diet history under a dietician's care, etc.  Be patient, I'm sure he will go over all of that with you.  What is your insurance?  I had Empire BC/BS.  Also, depends on whether you find anything as a result of this pre-op work-up and if you have any special conditions.  Every patient has to be treated differently.  I went through the entire process twice and interviewed 4 surgeons all on Long Island.  I chose someone out-of-network for various reasons unique to my situation.  Good luck and be patient!!  You're going to need it.

I'm pretty sure I don't need the 6-month diet plan for my insurance.  I have Oxford and supposedly they're pretty good with wls.  I know I need to be patient, but I've never been too good at that, haha.  Thanks :o)

Hi there! Have  you been to the support group at Good Samaritan Hosp in West Islip?  The next one is this Saturday from 9-10:30 am.  There are several post-ops that go to this meeting that had Dr. Adaniel.  Maybe you could come to the meeting and speak to them.
