I would definitely grab the recliner.  It will be hard for you to find a comfortable position for a few weeks.  If you do lay in the bed you will only be able to lay on your back without pain.  Its nice to have a recliner just so you can change positions if you get tired of just laying flat. I borrowed a recliner, and it was a life saver!  Good luck-Michelle

I found it easier in my recliner and with pillows on my couch!  ANDI

For some reason I wasn't able to sleep in the recliner at night .  I found it easier to put a bunch of pillows against my headboard and sleep in a somewhat sitting up position.   After about a week I was able to sleep lying down.  I had open RNY with Dr. C too.  Good luck to you Sally

I switched off between the recliner & a "husband" --one of those big pillow things w/arms on it for the bed.  I just slept wherever was more comfortable. Good luck,

Grab the recliner! It's all I used for the first 3 weeks after my open RNY and used it again after my abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). It's also really nice to have a recliner!

Good luck!
