Does anyonehave this insurance and know how long it takes for approval?  I am having my psych eval tomorrow and once those results are in, the doc will be contacting the insurance for approval.  I was just curious as to how long it may take to get approval. Thanks, Deb

I have excellus.  I went to the doctors on Oct. 5 and he said he would send the paperwork out and I would here something.  I was approved on Oct. 11.  I am not sure when the paperwork was sent but that was only 6 days.  So they are pretty quick, at least it was for me.  My dates on the paperwork are for Nov. 14-17.  I am just waiting now for the surgeon to call me on pre-op information.  Good luck to you and keep us posted.  And a speedy approval. Christine

I do, Deb.  Since you're seeing Cunningham, I assume you're having RNY.  Excellus is pretty darn quick on approvals for RNY, as long as everything is in order.  I go to the same office, but see Dr. Simon.  They made me lose 5% of my weight before they would approve me.  I had no co-morbidities, other than weight.

I already have lost the 5% - down 17 pounds at my second visit!  Yes, I am having RNY.  I have my psych eval this afternoon with Dr. Hayes.  DH said this morning on the way out the door that he hopes I pass!  I will talk it as a word of support vs. he thinks I'm psycho!

My BP was high - 159/94 but with the 17 pounds gone I am at 118/72 - amazing.  But both my parents were diabetic and my sugar levels were elevated so I am trying to ward off the diabetes.  My older sister had the lap band and loves it, but she was not as heavy as me.

I am so psyched and ready.  I really would like to have the surgery end of November, December or January.

I am a bit concerned though about work - Dr. Cunningham said I would have the surgery on a Wednesday, take the following week off and go back to work the following Monday.  Last night at the support group meeting I was told to plan on being out 4 weeks.  I have such great bosses that I don't want to take advantage of them by being out.  (Loyalty I guess!).  This is my only concern at the moment though.

I hope things work out quickly!

Congrats to you!!!!   I lost 17 in the 4 - 5 weeks I had.  I needed to lose 12.  Isn't it amazing about the BP?  Mine is typcially normal.  2 weeks when I had a mole removed from my arm and my BP was 110/68.  Amazing!  Even was I was "lighter" years ago it was never that low. Dr. C was the first doc I met with there.  I wasn't sure why I saw him when they knew I wasn't going to do RNY.  lol  I think the time off varies for everyone.  I gal here had RNY and was back in less than 2 weeks.  Another was out many many months.

I hope you get the call for approval soon after you complete your eval!
