My daughter and I have both had WLS so when we go out to eat we sometimes share a meal or else we get something that we know will keep well for leftovers. I understand the whole concept of portion control, but unfortuntelly we live in a society that believes "bigger is better" and resturants are the number one seller of this belief. Personally I wouldn't ever order off the children's menu, but my surgeons office stated we are sometimes allowed to order off the seniors part of the menu. I have never tried it. Leftovers are a wonderful thing in my book. I am at home alone 5 days a week while my daughter is at college so leftovers mean no cooking for me...........yahoo!!!!!!! Besides, I can't imagine what a resturant would begin to charge for a smaller portion. I am sure it wouldn't be cheaper then the price of a full meal. Resturants are out to make money, it is their livelyhood. Their childrens menu meals are cheaper because they are cheaper foods to make and serve and not very nutritious, don't believe they have much to do with the size of the portion. I will comment that I have never been refused an extra plate to share a meal. Most resturants are more then accomodating and most servers think taking the step of WLS to improve one's health is an awesome thing and have gone out of their way to help. At least that has been my experience. Good luck in your endevor. It would be nice to see a few places come on board with your idea. Sally
